My basset hound tries to eat kitty litter ALL THE TIME. I know the smell entices her but is there anything i can do to make the litter seem less appealing without having the need to hide the box.

My female boxer of 7 months was recently diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia in both of her hips. The vet basically made it sound like her opinion was to put her to sleep. I am very upset about this. I have gotten very attached to her and want to know if there are more options. She told me that surgery costs an average of $3000 per hip and is not guaranteed. Is this true? Has anyone ever had this problem? How much does it really cost for the surgery? Anyone ever heard different? I am desperate for other options. We don't have the money for the surgery right now either.

he is swollen really big and is bruised black and blue. He wont eat but he does drink water, he is even having a hard time walking. Hes 1 1/2 years old chihuahua. Does anybody know if this is normal?

Would it make you sad if a dog was in its cage 22 to 23 hrs a day?? This was happening to my dads dog because my father works all the time so I adopted the dog did I do the right thing?

When I got her at 2 months I realized that she had the tiniest dry spot on the tip of her right ear. I didnt think anything of it becuz it was so small. Then throughout the year it has speard down her ear. Her vet had scraped it and tested it for mange but it wasnt. I switched vets and her new vet gave me antifungal drops but that hasnt worked either. All this waiting for her ear to heal has left her ear defected in a way. Very noticeable. Ppl ask about it. Her ear has dry spots that dont have hair on them. It starts at the tip and goes down her whole ear leaving it like blotchy. She only itches @ it sometimes but i dont know if its becuz of the spots or if shes just itchin. Im very unhappy about this bcuz its very noticeable against her black ear. Shes honestly beautiful and i was offered to show her in competitions but if it wasnt for her ear. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED OR IS STILL CAUSING IT. I need it to heal and stop. Ive aked around but nobody knows what it is. HELP HER PLEASE!

I have a 2 year old female beagle, and she always gets in to the garbage. Kitchen garbage, bathroom garbage(feminine products, dirty diapers-it is so disgusting). I thought about buying one of those harnesses that goes around their hind legs and keeps them from jumping up, but that still wouldn't help with the bathroom garbage. I'm really concerned about her getting sick too, she actually threw up a entire peach seed a few days ago(it was pretty small, but still). Any help would be appreciated!!

We recently brought a puppy this weekend he is a Jack Russell puppy and he is so cute but when I am at work he does tend to cry/bark How can I prevent him from crying or barking night he does not do it all the time I know from the past that have said to use a clock for the heart beat sound

half lab and half boxer. Had her for a week....she wakes up, takes a few steps and squats on my carpet.

I see a lot of people giving food advice on Y/A. I see recommendations from Iams and Purina, which I personally think are fine foods, to a raw food diet which I do not agree with. For those who know about food, what food do you think is best for dogs, why, and where did you get your information? Credible information. I found one person on here who actually sounds like she knows what she is talking about. She is an LVT who specializes in Nutrition. That is her Job. But for everyone else, where do you get your information from? I just wonder because I hear so much food talk, and I don't know who is really right. I don't have a dog yet, I am planning to adopt a dog soon.

My dog, who is now 8 months old, started out on dry food, then for some reason he became finicky so I bought canned food to try out. Now he as terrible gas and it smells so bad that he runs us out of the room!! I want to treat him to canned food, but the way he is going with his flatulence problem, he might be eating dry food from here on in. What can I do to curb his smelly gases?????? pee ewww!!

Ok, so i know there are some dogs that can get sick or die because they are so cold. I looked up dogs that can live in the cold and it never said rottweilers. I am planning on moving to montana and im having rottweilers up there. But i need to travel with them and i want to know whether they can be outside in the snow in montana. or is it too cold?

I bought a Min Pin from a local pet store from which I have been a loyal customer for years.
I was told she was purbred bred. When I picked her up she did not have papers and the store owner told me to return in two weeks.
Well today I picked up the papers and found out her parents are ACA registered and from Missouri. I have no medical or parental history for the puppy Min Pin. The store only provided me with an ACA registration form.
Can I register this puppy with AKC instead of ACA? I believe ACA is a sham company with no breeding standards. A company that will register ANY dog.
I would really like to show this Min Pin because she is so beautiful and well behaved, but I don't believe she is pedigree.
Any suggestions?
