Tapeworms.... they can be transferred through fleas, so check your dog for fleas. Call your vet's office, they can get some dewormer for you, and make sure to take a fecal sample in. If your dog does have fleas, make sure to apply Frontline to kill the fleas.

Your dog has tape worms which they get from eating fleas or stepping on tape worm segments outside then licking his paws ! First bathe your dog for fleas. Start with a ring of flea shampoo around his neck BEFORE putting ANY water on him . Work it in around the head, be careful around the eyes. This keeps the fleas from rushing to his head & into his eyes . Next work shampoo into the rest of the coat . Leave shampoo on 15-20 mins. fleas are hard to kill they don't drown fast . Then you must treat your house flea bombing is best . Lastly you can treat the tape worms over the counter (tape worm tabs) But I recommend calling the vet to make an appointment to check your dog's health after having any worms . Because the worms can make him very sick . Good Luck Hope this helps & your dog recovers.

That sounds like tape worm to me. Usually when they look like that, they are dead. I would suggest that you call your vet, take a stool sample to them. They will look at it under the microscope for parasites. Tape worm is normal in dogs. Usually caused by fleas. If the dog bites a flea and ingests it. It can turn into a tape worm. Hope this helps!

They are tapeworms. It is best to take your dog to the vet and describe what you saw, and they will give you a medication that will take care of them.
And for the future, tapeworms are caused by eating fleas or rodents.

Where are they located? Are they around the rump area? If so, it could be worms. Either way, it's some kind of infestation. Get him to a vet.
