A dog is 'pack' creature, and when we take them away from their natural family, we become their pack..A puppy NEEDS all of the emotional and social support that a human infant does. Many owners DO leave them by themselves for much of the time, but it is not a natural situation for the puppy. It is extremely stressful, just as it would be for a toddler to left alone and frightened. Few puppy owners would leave their human baby unattended, but think nothing of doing it to a puppy...
If I had to leave a puppy through the day, I would consider a day care situation. Perhaps you might have a friend that would trade puppy care for weekend babysitting?
As a canine behaviorist, I see the results of these overly stressed and improperly socialized puppies, when THEY are blamed as being hyper-active, disobedient, too stubborn to potty train, and destructive.
Some breeds are able to adjust to being alone much better than Parson Russell or Jack Russell Terriers.> http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/parsonrussellterrier.htm

Most puppies do that because you took him away from his mom and now he's alone...There isnt much you can do to prevent it. My dad has 2 Jack Russells and let me tell you, the crying/barking will be the least of your worries! LOL They are very spunky dogs and ALWAYS want attention.

hmm thats sound silly for useing the oclock for the heart beat ? lol funnny. well if youre dog is feeling all alone at home by hisself i would just buy him some squeezeing and hard balls and rubber animals toys that he can enjoy playing with when youre not home . plus you should get him a snack treats like milk bone or a bone that he can be busy to chew on all day so he wont even cried or bark anymore. when youre out some where else you should leave a small light in the house for him so he wont be afraid to be in the dark room . some dogs are like that to be scared in a dark place all alone .

Jack Russel's are what people might call mischevious dogs. When they dont have much to do or no one pays attention to them. They bark and howl because that gets them the attention they need. So basically your baby is trying to tell you "SPEND MORE TIME WITH ME PLEASE"!! On a weekend try an spend as much time with him as possible and notice how he may not bark.

I just adopted an adult (4 years old approx.) JRT in July. He's a very jumpy creature. He's very well behaved but he just loves to bark and he hates to be left alone, so he crys. It seems to be getting better, but not anywhere close to stopping... good luck...
you adopted a very vocal breed!

Without hitting it try behavior lessons or if you are way too busy then consul your vet to see if she can find a behavior specialist to hep your dog...
(my dog does that sometimes)
If none of these work for you then when you are at home try spending as much time as possible with your new baby boy!!!
Good Luck!!!
