Today this morning, around 9, my 6year old dog was running around the back yard playing. But then around 6 this evening she layed down and was breathing really hard, and i thought she was dying! She started trembling, and I got really scared. I couldn't take her to the vets because we're under a level 3 emergency snow warning. Our powers are out and the phone lines dead. What should I do she seems okay now, but she refuses to get up and she's just laying down looking so sad and tired. She's spaid so shes not in heat. I'm really scared WHATS HAPPING?

Our poodle died of renal failure and the breeder said it was a bad breeding and shouldn't happen again. We have 3 kids aged 4 and up. We can drive 3 hours each way for the replacement poodle, or 45 minutes for a 1/2 lab 1/4 border collie, 1/4 aussie from Craig's list. Or there is a 2 year old lab in Uncle Henry's. We just want a healthy dog and a good playmate and walking companion. Our poodle didn't play with the kids-I don't know whether it was because she was 10 months old when we got her, or because she was sick (She died 8 months later) or whether poodles are normally aloof with children.

My daughter is babysitting for a family whose dog is having a nosebleed. We can't reach the family and we don't want to incur a huge vet bill without the owner's permission. What should we do? No one over at "dogs" will answer me. Thanks

My daughter is babysitting for a family who has a dog that has a nosebleed. The family is at a Jazz game and can't be reached. Short of taking the dog to the vet on an emergency visit, what can I do?

I have a 2 year old Alaskan Malimu. I live out in the country on a 10 acre lot and my dog will not stop running away. A few weeks ago he ran about 3 miles away and killed some farmers goats. I was forced to chain him up because he keeps running to see his girlfriend, even after I got him fixed. Please help with suggestions on how I can let him run free, but still keep him around the house.

I have a male yorkie and was thinking about breeding him, but a breeder told me he would no longer be housebroken. If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate their input.

Well, im sure she can. But when i take her outside and walk her there is so much snow its causing her problems! She is a very picky dog regarding where she does her business, i normally walk her down the street to a field in back of an abandoned warehouse. But we cant get down there, as their is like 2 feet of snow out. She keeps sinking in the snow. She tries to go elsewhere but when she squats down she sinks through the snow and falls over.
What can i do? How can i help her get through this? How can i encourage her to make poopies in places other than her favorite spot?

I am getting tired of all the stray and neglected dogs that comes in my yard.We have a pup maybe about 2 1/2-3months old that came into my yard.I told husband I will keep him but we have to put a fence up.Well Sunday husband dug holes to put in cement and fence poles and covered the holes and cement with dirt.My pup started acting sick yesterday.Today he is extremly sick.I noticed one of the hole has been dug up and there is no cement in it.I had my friend take the pup to the vet for me because I had to wait for my kids to get home.I told him do whatever the vet says. They told him they are about to close and they will give him a IV and let the vet doc check him out in the morning. This pup may not make it till morning.I called they are closed. They told my friend they dont think the cement will hurt the pup.Do you think I should pay this vet bill and if the pup dies over night do you think I should sue? The assistance gave the IV.The doc was already gone.
