I am getting tired of all the stray and neglected dogs that comes in my yard.We have a pup maybe about 2 1/2-3months old that came into my yard.I told husband I will keep him but we have to put a fence up.Well Sunday husband dug holes to put in cement and fence poles and covered the holes and cement with dirt.My pup started acting sick yesterday.Today he is extremly sick.I noticed one of the hole has been dug up and there is no cement in it.I had my friend take the pup to the vet for me because I had to wait for my kids to get home.I told him do whatever the vet says. They told him they are about to close and they will give him a IV and let the vet doc check him out in the morning. This pup may not make it till morning.I called they are closed. They told my friend they dont think the cement will hurt the pup.Do you think I should pay this vet bill and if the pup dies over night do you think I should sue? The assistance gave the IV.The doc was already gone.

Ok I said sue out of anger. No I would not do that.I dont want another animal.Since I moved here 6 1/2 months ago I have taken in 4 stray dogs and 5 stray cats and my yard always has stray animals in it.Thats why the fence went up.These vet bills are getting to be to expensive and the food cost is almost at $100.00 a week to feed them.I just dont know why the pup is being left until morning to be seen.

Just got my puppy back from the vet.Has nothing to do with the cement he ate.He has parvo. They was gonna keep him longer but believe he will die no matter what they do for him.$214 later and there is no hope.I fear helping anymore strays.Always end up with a huge vet bill.If no signs of being better do you think I should have him put to sleep tomorrow? The vet did reconnmend it if he has not improved by tomorrow.

omg.....sue them and/or dont pay...if u need some pointers say
- the dog ate cement mix -which has to be dangerous- they should've stayed open and helped out
- if they just had to close they shouldve given you numbers, directions, etc for another vet
-because: its not safe for them to leave the pup there unattended...hooked to an IV and in such a condition...
-keep in mind:
u dont wanna tell them that the dog was a stray...keep it hush hush...trust me theyd have a field day with that because it was a stray and didnt have shots or tests run
AND im sure theyll say something about how you couldve taken it to the regular hospital and didnt...so think of everything you couldve done wrong (even though this isnt youre fault) and find a way to cover it up ahead of time
good luck...i hope it works out and i hope i helped :)

The vet's office should have advised your friend of the closest emergency animal hospital. These are open after hours for just such incidents. However, you will have to pay the bill, regardless of what happens, because you and your friend chose to leave the dog. Most vets have one person that is on staff at night to administer medicine and monitor the animals. If anything happens, that person would call the vet who is on call. Good luck. I'm sure your pup will be fine.

Very nice of you to "adopt" this puppy!!:)
Usually when you take a dog to the Vet you sign a waiver/disclaimer releasing said Vet from responsibility unrelated to negligence. Regardless, just hope for the best and pray puppy will make it through with no long term effects.
Your Vet and the people working there love dogs as much as you do and are more than likely acting with the animal's best interest in mind. If puppy doesn't make it, don't sue, (you probably don't have a legal case anyway) go to the shelter and adopt a new dog in honor of your little "cement truck".
Good luck!!

OMG!! I would be spazing!! What kind of dog is it? How big? Is there an after hours number to call? I think that you should pay the bill if he doesn't die. I don't know if you can sue. It's not their fault your dog ate the cement. Just pray that the poor little makes it okay.
