My 9 m/o Pomeranian, named Princess.. was taking her usual nap (just 30 minutes ago). As soon as she got up, she started hopping in three legs. I don't understand how she hurt her leg. What can I do to see if she's okay? Has she broken or fractured it? It's obviously to late to go see a Vet.

My boyfriend and I are planning on adopting a dog from our local animal shelter soon. We have a few breeds in mind that we like, but we would not mind a mixed breed at all, we are waiting until we find the perfect one. The one whose personality fits with us best. I was just wondering where other people got there dog, and what kind of dog you have.

I have two kids. One of 8 and one of 4 years. I am looking for a small breed because my husband doesn't not want a big dog. I would like a calm, sweet, good with kids and not tempermental. Any suggestions?

Earlier today, I saw a nice looking dog (as in, the dog's coat was very clean looking and he/she looked very well taken care of). Judging from its look (white and grayish black fur, fairly big and strong-looking) I think its a Siberian Husky. Anyways, being someone that happens to have an interest in dogs (but never had one of my own) I took a few quick looks at the dog as I passed by.
I probably should have just minded my own business, though, because the dog's owner started with "You know, people from India eat dogs" (because he could tell I'm Indian). As far as I know, thats not true, so I said that I didn't think so. Then he said something like "Korean people eat dogs". I just ignored him and walked on.
I acknowledge that it can be rude to stare/look repeatedly at someone's dog, and I take full responsibility for my actions. At the same time, I wasn't sure what prompted him to say what he did. The statements seem too generalized. What did he mean by saying that at all?

I absolutly love the breed. ALL of the pit bulls I have ever had in my life have been so sweet. I think it is the owners who make them aggressive. I have done my research about them, I wish I didn't have to find a new home for mine, but I am having to move to a SMALL apartment and that would be unfair to him. I live in the Dallas area and people are known to fight and breed them to make money, how is that the DOGS fault? I see nothing wrong with these dogs. I heard that the CHOW is the most likely to bite a person. But I just want to know why peopl think they are so bad. Could this be the reason it is so hard to find him a decent SAFE home?

Treatment of Wobblers Syndrome can include the use of corticosteroids, a neck brace and surgery. The surgery fuses the 2 unstable vertebrae which relieves the pressure on the spinal cord. Unfortunately this also puts further stress on adjoining vertebrae which can cause instability to recur in them. Many Wobblers can live a long and pain free life with little or no treatment. Others deteriorate quickly and euthanasia then becomes the only kind choice.

Sorry Dane Lover, but they do use "meds" (corticosteroids).

I'm vacationing in a foreign country and may have come in contact with some sick dogs. I'm fine but will my dogs at home get sick through me when I go back? In other words, can I be a carrier for dog's infectious diseases?

Thanks.

So my dog got scratched by my room mates cat the other day. I think she had an abcess that popped on her head. Also, she has been scratching her whole body really bad (i don't think they are related). She does not seem lathargic, but she has rashes and scratches from cuts and i am really worried about her head. I don't get paid till monday so i reallllllly need to know what to do until then because it is impossible to take her to the vet right now. I want to take care of her though, I am so worried!!! Please help!!!

Hi,
I have been wanting a puppy ever since I have known. I always played with my friend's dogs. I have been researching for a long time and am interested in 3 breeds---maltese and shih tzu and yorkie. I only want to get one pure bred puppy. Please help me out dog owners who own these breeds letting me know anything which could help me out here. I love all the 3 breeds equally and don't know which one to get. Anyone had been lucky enough to have these 3 breeds in their life?
thanks in advance.

What should I do? I need to find a new home for my fixed male pit bull. I have tried and asked for a fee of ONLY 80.00 for his EXTRA large kennel, his toys, shampoos, food and water bowls, leashes, and collars. I just need to find him a good home. He is ADBA registered and i will send his papers with him (of course) . It seems now a days the people that e-mail me want a free pit bull & I im scared they will fight him. The price isn't set on the puppy himself he is 8 months it is just for his belongings. ANY ADVICE would be GREAT !!! THANKS

she got pregnant by her brother about a week ago, i was trying to keep them seperated but he got to her anyway. Now shes not really my dog I am just dog sitting for my neighbor ( we got puppys from the same momma dog) anyways what should we do? I just took the male yesterday and had him neutered, but unfortunately my neighbor hasnt returned to get his dog and i think he may not come back. Should I let her have the puppys or take her in for an abortion, I know shes not my dog but if he dont come back for her I guess she will be mine. They only had sex the one time. I am so mad because it was his responsibility to have her spade. I always get mine done. what are your opinions on this?

we were given a beautiful dog, still a pup , ( chow & shephard ) mix . we have bought him alot of toys and he is so, so playful . we buy him the best of food , brush his beautiful white wavy coat of fur . but the thing about it is he is very michevous. he tears the screen from the door and even tears plastic apart from things that are kept covered outside . he is a very good watch dog . very alert to everything . we love him so much . does he do michevious things for attention or he needs another dog to play with ? i know he is a pup still , but he is growing fast and my husband scolds him to stop doing what he is doing , but he runs around all over the yard and jumps and gallops and just shows off , very playful , but the tearing part, damages that he does is what i don't like . i could use the information . .....thank-you ,

If kennel cough goes untreated for a lengthy period of time, what are the long-term effects? My papillon has been displaying the symptoms, rarely, for about 2 months now. They've just started getting much worse, so he has an appointment with the vet tomorrow.

like mine will fart, then run away ASAP b4 she can smell it, or bark in her sleep, wake up n look around confused as 2 where the sound came from! when she was a pup she tried sniffing the flame on a candle n now has a burn on her nose! silly dog. she is also very scared of mirrors, takes on look at herself n runs away wimpering, but when she see's her sister (who looks exactly the same) shes all jumping n bounding n playn LOADS..like i said, very stupid dog.

what abt urs? what daft, but cute things does ur dog do? just thought it'd be nice 2 have something like this on here rather than loads of ppl sayn 'my dogs ill, wot do i do?' summat 2 chear us all up!

I am having a horrible time with my female Yorkie that is 6 months old... When we leave to go anywhere she is left in a confined area (bedroom) with our other Yorkie that is over a year now. They have food, water, a billion toys, we leave the tv running, puppy pads, their blankets they love love love, all kinds of bones.... But the 6 month old goes nuts when we leave. I'm not sure how loud she gets but she dug a huge hole in the carpet (at the apt that we rent) right behind the door in the doorway. It really wasn't like this all the time, it just seems that the last 3 months or so it has just gotten worse. I don't know what to do, but I do know that we'll end up getting kicked out of the apt if we don't figure this out... I will not get rid of her! I've bought Sit, Stay, Fetch, but it just isn't working, and believe me we've stuck with it.... Any ideas? Any help? Anyone out there had this happen??
