Do you watch and like Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer, on National Geographic?

I DO! I love him, I think he is soo amazing. I watch the show, and he helps every dog and their owner, but I still sometimes say to myself "Oh, he is good, but he can't help this dog." But he still does it! I just can't get enough of that show.

Cesar Millan is not a dog trainer. I don't know his real title, but he is more like a dog behaviorist. He is very good at reading a dogs behavior. Then he teaches the owners how to read the behavior, and how to react to that behavior, so he is more of a owner trainer, than a dog trainer. And I have met dog trainers, he is different. He really is amazing.

yes. i love the show... he has it right. i had been doing some of the stuff he does well before he was on tv. pack animals need pack leader... like a pit bull mix stray i had taken in turned to bite me because i went to take his collar (must have been beaten) my first thought was HOW DARE U. and i put him to the ground it was not really calm and assertive it had some anger mixed in. it was not abusively either. but he did open my thought on some things. that i had never really thought of as bad behavior but i do see now how it can be. granted my dogs get away with some things but they follow my rules just like my kids do....well most of the time for the kid....the dogs listen better then my kid... lol

I am among a growing number of professional dog trainers/behaviorists that have a great deal of disdain for Milan.
He is inexperienced, not certified in any way, and uses techniques which are outdated and can be considered cruel.
He uses hype and his celebrity status to lure in inexperienced dog owners.
Not to mention he was OR still is an illegal immigrant. That is unacceptable to me.

People cannot learn or use the methods Cesar chooses to use in a practical manner as they are outdated methods which other professionals have already claimed to be ineffective.

He gets on my nerves.... I do not like him at all or most of his 'ideas' on how to train a dog. Yes I said IDEAS, because I think he just makes them up

No. He's really not a very good dog trainer. But I can see how people who know very little about dog training could be impressed with him.
