I had a similar problem when I got my second dog. They would never stop fighting until our second dog knew the the first one was the dominant dog, so you need to give them time to figure out which of them is the dominant dog.

If your old dog has been the top dog in your home, most likely
you will not be able to. Try buying toys that both may like and play with both at the same time on their level, perhaps in the floor. Try this every night for a week or two. Make sure you do not ignore your old dog in front of the new one, make sure you give your old dog more attention. Walk them together, this seems to help both of mine in getting along better. Brag on both dogs in front of each other. They may not understand everything at first but keep trying. Hope this helps.

u need to stopur old dog before he starts growling, and showing any aggession to the pug. if u watch ur aussie shep u will see how he acts just before he turns nasty....u are HIS leader so take charge. a touch or a snap of my fingers puts my dogs in line quick u can also make ur first dog lay down. also Aussieshep's need lots of exersize is he getting enough?

Show favoritism to your old dog. If you're showing favoritism to the new dog your old dog will thing it's been replaced. Dogs are pack animals and need to be shown who's boss. Since your the alpha person of the pack, you need to choose who's next in line.

let them be, its a "pack" thing. they will continue to act like dogs whether you want them to or not. once the order of dominance has been established things will move in a different pattern
