I'm vacationing in a foreign country and may have come in contact with some sick dogs. I'm fine but will my dogs at home get sick through me when I go back? In other words, can I be a carrier for dog's infectious diseases?
Thanks.

i think viruses die pretty quickly when exposed to air and especially sunshine....bacteria i'm not so sure of....if you have something that you think may have been contaminated but you cannot wash it, at least put it out it in the sunshine for several hours...good luck

Yes you can carry infectious diseases home (on your shirts, shoes, pants, socks, hands, other items that the dick dogs can in contact with. Did you touch or do anything with these dogs?? Just make sure you wash you clothes very well or anything that did come in contact with the sick dogs. If your animals (dogs) are vaccinated then they have a slim chance to none getting the disease. I work at a animal emergency clinic. Just be careful. if you see any changes in behavior notifiy your regular vet. If you see vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy or anything that isn't normal for your dogs contact your regular vet.
There are VERY few diseases humans can catch from dogs. A lot are very uncommon. You should be fine and so should your dogs. You don't have to throw your clothes away or anything like that just wash everything well. Everything will be ok.

Unlikely unless you are wearing dirty clothes and shoes that have come into contact with the sick animals or you have not showered since coming into contact with the animals.
Make sure you wash your clothes and shoes prior to leaving the country you are in, if you are unsure declare any soes or clothes to the quarentine officers at the airport.

it also depends on the country ur going to they may have differ problems you do. i would ask your vet and if they don't know maybe talk to some in that country.... i know any animals that come over seas have to be quarantined for some amount of time to be sure they are not harboring anything....my one friend just brought animals home from Hawaii and they had to go through hoops to get the animals to the main land.

first off you ask about your dogs and not your relatives and neighbors ?
Yes you can take clothes you are going to get rid of and throw them out on the way back saves the airline doing it for you and keep disease down, shower and clean as good as possible as close as possible before coming back change clothes at the last minute, spray shoes with lysol,

yes you can...the only way to make sure you're not going to give things to your dogs, is to NOT touch them when you get home, shower, wash your clothes, wash everything you took. (if it can be washed) and then touch your dogs. (usually here in the U.S. the dogs are protected by the annual shots they get...your dogs HAVE been vacinated ???)
