i have my dog enrolled in the wellness puppy plan at banfield animal hospital inside of petsmart. you have to pay like 120. up front and 20. a month. all the shots and visits are free. and if you want to get your puppy spayed or neutered it is free also. they have a pamplet showing what the plan will and will not cover. it sure saved me alot of money. good luck

Hi Sarah,
We went with Pets Best and have been very happy with them so far. We already did the puppy shots so didn't sign up for the wellness coverage, but I know they have it if you want it. We pay about $35 a month and then have a $75 deductible when we go in. You're smart to get the coverage while he's a puppy -- the most common complaint I read online while I was researching was that companies don't cover pre-existing conditions. Better to sign up now before something is considered pre-existing. Good luck!

Could be-Its one of those damned if you do damned if you dont things. I had a dog years ago that it seemed like was constanlty having medical issues. Always back and forth to the vet. Insurance would have been great for him.
My dog i have now, she only goes like 1 or 2 times a year. To get her shots - thats about all. So insurance really wouldnt probably be worth it.

I am going to look into it. We have two dogs.We have gotten all thier shots , heart worm, dewormed, etc, Our girl dog which is only a year old had 5 puppies last week. She has a bad uterous infection and is on meds. They drew blood, gave her a shot and sent her home with pills. They want to see her back. They want to spayed her. But also they wanted to keep her overnight. Do you see where I am going with this? Any thing could go wrong at any time and it's MONEY, MONEY, and MORE MONEY. VETS ARE MONEY HUNGRY.

Sara, Ask specifically what your choice of pet insurance covers. Some insurances do not cover regular inoculations. Most do however cover accidents, (broken bones, skin problems, or infectious deceases, some sicknesses, X-rays, disorders which need hospitalization. Kennel costs at a veterinarian, costs at a veterinary school (college).

It depends on what kind of puppy your getting. Have you checked the breed to see if there are health problems associated with it? My daughter has a chocolate lab, he tore a ligament in his knee, $1200 surgery bill. Then there was complications, another $600. He also has hip dysplasia. See where I'm going with this? Check the breed's history.

I have looked into this as well. It looks as if it really only covers surgery's and emergency services not shots and routine check ups. If someone know of a different type plan I would be interested myself! I have a pup as well in need of allot of routine shots

Ask your vet if they accept the type of insurance you want to buy, and what they think about purchasing pet insurance.
