My daughter is babysitting for a family who has a dog that has a nosebleed. The family is at a Jazz game and can't be reached. Short of taking the dog to the vet on an emergency visit, what can I do?

Deidra D. Why? This isn't my dog and I don't want to incur a huge vet bill without the owner's permission.

Get a clean cloth and hold it to the dog's nose, try to get him to be still and soothe him. If the bleeding does not stop in a few minutes then you do need to take the dog to the Vet. Can you call the dog's owners on a cell phone?

The dog can bleed to death if you are not careful.

Allot a little was it a scratch thing or a real nose bleed? a real nose bleed is not a good singe! I would have your daughter call a family friend or relative! Get some more advise. You may need to bring the dog to there vet. Also call a vet get some info there. Good luck to your daughter!

unless you can visually see some sort of abrasion on the outside of the dog's nose, GET IT TO THE VET.
