My two year old shih-tzu male is eating his own feces. Does this happen to anyone else? Is it diet?

We pick it up after he goes, but sometimes he is so fast. the vet says it is more disgusting to us?

I know this sounds weird but it worked for me!
I put pepper on the turd and when my dog tried to eat it he didn't think it tasted so great anymore! After a couple of days he left the turds alone!
I have also fed another dog pineapple. It worked too. An old wisetail says it makes the turd taste bad..... (Go figure!)

There's a ton of reasons why they do that, but if you will go to the pet store and tell them what the problem is, there is a food additive that will make the poo not as attractive to the dog. Sorry, I can't remember the name.
