has he been around any other dogs??? sometimes dogs can catch kennel cough from other dogs (email me for more info: squeaky3185@yahoo.com) but he could just also be gettin a sore throat. Dogs will "hack" and cough kinda like humans do...when we have a scratchy or itchy throat, we kinda cough, or clear our throats- dogs do the same! he could have something stuck in his throat too. push on his throat area, you'll be able to feel it if theres something there.

My Italian Grey-Hound had the same symptoms a couple of weeks ago that lasted for a couple of days.I like you thought he had swallowed something that was caught in his throat. This was not the case he was diagnosed as having a severe case of bronchitis the vet put him on climax 62.5mg which helped him almost immediately.I was also told without the medication his cough would only have got worse and eventually other problems could occur. From what you are describing I could almost bet that your loved one has the same problem. Please let us know what you find out

well incase youre dog is feeling odd that if there are something inside of he's stomach by callin the vet and set a appointment for the dog for check up . cause some pets will swallow alot of things off the ground and not having the owners notices about so i think u should still let the veterinary doctor do a X-ray on youre dog to see what he has that making him choking up .

sometimes when the dogs esophagus gets irritated, they cough until it heals. my little dog got her teeth cleaned a few months ago and she coughed like that because of the tube they stuck down her throat when she was asleep. if it doesn't quit or get better within a week, you probably want to take the dog to the vet, unless there are other symptoms that start between now and then.

try a vet, he may have something that may need medication on. My moms dog had a cough that started for no reason, the vet said it was a kennel cough , she stays in all they time only out for potty. So best odds consult your vet.

Is he coughing up any liquid? Is it foamy? If so, he could have water in his lungs, pulmonary edema, and this is a life-threatening condition. My dog had it once, and if I had not taken him to the vet he would have drowned in his own fluids. If he keeps coughing, I would take him to the Vet ASAP. Coughing for a dog is not normal.

Your dog may possibly have the Heart Worms take it to the vet to get it checked out. If it is an old dog that may be the reason.

A cough in a dog can be a few different things, I would recommend that you see your dogs veterinarian.
