Bichon Frise tend to be high strung and irritable, much like poodles, at least those that I have been acquainted with.

Boston Terriers and Pugs are both sweet and loveable dogs, very smart and good with kids.

I know it's not the answer you were looking for, but it has more to do with how you raise the dog, than the specific breed.
However, I wouldn't suggest a very small dog if there will be children around, because they are fragile and kids can be too rough. The dog may bite the children if it feels it's safety is threatened.
Any dog you get, you should socialize well, walk every day, and meet strangers and strange dogs on the street. You should also teach your children to be respectful of the dog and to not pick it up and play with it like a toy. It's a living animal after all.
Good Luck!
Personally I'd go with the Bichon. Boston's and Pugs have those smushed faces that makes it hard for them to breathe when they exercise. (ie: play with kids.)

It depends what kind of dog you want. I have a Boston Terrier, and I can honestly say it is the best dog I have ever had. They are extremely friendly and easy to train. They are great for families. However, the downside is that you cannot keep them in heavy heat for too long, as they have a pushed-in snout and cannot breathe very well in that temperature. Otherwise, they are very playful and should be walked once a day or as many times a week as you can. I would choose a Boston. As for strangers, they like to run up, friendly by nature.

In my journey, the canine breeds that are the least probable to strengthen human aggression subject matters are the Pug, Beagle, English Bulldog, and Boston Terrier. i have not fairly considered an party of any of those breeds that i'd say had a intense aggression situation, although I actual have met more beneficial than some frightened Beagles. nicely-bred Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Pit Bulls, and Greyhounds will be precise up there as well. on the different hand are the breeds that are maximum probable to be aggressive. I actual have not in any respect had a delightful journey with a Yorkie. in reality, of the 50 or so Yorkies that I actual have encountered, i'd say all 50 had some form of aggression situation. Chow Chows, Akitas, and Chihuahuas are precise up there as well. yet, i'd say that the most aggressive canine breeds are the various breeds of Terrier from Scotland, the Scottish Terrier, West Highland White Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, and Skye Terrier. Scotties and Westies in certain are very bitey canine.

Boston terrier is actually rated the best dog period. They rank just above the lab and golden retriever because of their size and less need of grooming habits. The only thing you have to worry about is eye injuries. Sometimes because of where they're placed, they get poked. Other than that, they hardly ever have problems.
Pugs are same with the eyes, but they can be a little more head strong, not as easy going as a boston.
The bichon's are nice dogs, but a lot of grooming and white skinned dogs are very prone to allergies.

So ya a Labrador would b a good first dog, but out of those 3, a Bishion Frishe (however u spell it) is the best choice!!!!

Well it depends. Bichons are great lap dogs but, need also of grooming. Boston Terriers are great loyal pets, but tend to have eye and some aggression problems. Pug are great pets, they are lap dogs, and they are friendly to almost everyone. But they do have health issues with their breathing.

The Bichon Frise and they are absolutely adorable. However,
get them when still a puppy so they can accept your children from the onset. With strangers? I don't think ANY dog can just accept strangers.

I would say Pugs because some of those dogs you said are some times aggressive unless you get them as a puppy then you should be ok unless it is treated badly.
