How do you get your dogs to go out and do their business in the snow?

Well what I do for my dogs is I make a pathway from the door to the backyard. Then I Make a big circle in the yard so that they can choose a spot to go. I just clear a circle. I think that makes sense.

We have greyhounds so we take them out on a leash every time. When there is too much snow or ice we have to do a bit of shoveling or breaking up of the ice so they will go....it's kinda funny when you think about it. We tell them to go and walk around with them until they go....they do learn fast and figure out that the faster they do their business the faster they get back into the nice, warm house.

First, get them a coat. Then get your coat. Put the dog's coat on the dog, then put yours on you. You and the dog go outside together (even if you have to carry the dog). Get the snow shovel and clear an area so the snow is below the dog's belly. (Would you like to put your naked butt in snow?) ;>)

Make it 'fun time with my master', the dog will get the idea.
(However, you always will have to clear a spot) ;>)

This is sooooo funny cuz my pup is sooo cold she either will refuse to go out or she poops and pees rite on the porch half the time. She will go If I walk out with her to her place for duty other wise shes a baby and wants to get it over with quick!

So bring them out if they wont go out and wait until they go repeat this until the pup breaks down and goes!

I put their favorite toy or snack outside on the porch then show them. They just go. (I have Golden Retreiver and a shih tzu, they seem to work very well with each other even though their sizes are very different.
