She really needs to see a vet. That penny has to come out of there...and fast! It can block her intestines and pennies are made from a toxic metal. Please take her in ASAP

You probably don't have anything to worry about. A penny is round, without sharp edges that could cut her stomach or intestinal tract. The stomach and intestinal tract in animals is expandable just like ours. She will more than likely pass it in a day or two, if not the vet may want to remove it. Just make sure she drinks and doesn't show any signs of pain or excessive panting which could mean it's created a blockage in the intestines. If that happens then it would require surgery for the removal.
Don't let the comments or insulting remarks from participants in here bother you, or make you feel like you need to rush to the vet's fast or the pup will die. These people are not experts and tend to go off the deep end in giving what's is suppose to be friendly advise. Only your vet can answer your question and determine if the penny is passable by the size of your pup. Good luck with your baby and calm down!
Additional information: Consider how many kids have swallowed coins, how many have had their abdomens opened up to remove this so called "poisonous" metal? None, exactly the point I'm trying to make. Take your vet's advice, I think these people are a little ridiculous giving information that scares someone when they obviously don't know what they are talking about.

A penny may be too big for her to have a bowel movement that will get rid of it. Keep fresh water for her and take her to the vet as soon as you can. I have a dog that likes to swallow things; I know what you're going through. Good luck and I hope that your pug is well soon!

Hi! I have owned and bred pugs for over 10 years now.
Most of the time, when a pug ingests something like a penny, it will pass thru his or her system. However, just to be on the safe side, I would alert your vet and they will decide what, if any action should be taken.

A penny is probably to big for a 8 week old Pug to pass, I would get her to a vet if she hasn't vomited it back up in the next few hours.

I hope she is not choking if so take her to the vet now.
If not it should pass when she does a poop.
Look out for it in a day or so, I just hope it was a small penny not a big one, poor little pug. Good luck keep an eye on her gums if they change colour take her to the vet.

mmm well i'm guessing that it'll pass on its own but then again, i'm not very sure about the size of a pug that's 8 weeks old. i'd give a vet a call to get advice before rushing her in.

The puppy is probably too little to pass something that size and should be evaluated by a vet. You don't want the metal to poison her but if you have to wait till am to call the vet it shouldn't be a problem, just make sure she's still drinking and eating some no throwing up and call the vet!

Take her to the vet. They will probably have to do X-rays.
Are you sure she swallowed a penny? How did it happen?

Call the vet NOW!! The copper in the penny will cause problems chemically, not to mention the sheer size of it will cause intestinal blockage. Don't wait for another answer!! Get on the phone NOW!!
