You should check your local shelter, they may not have a certain breed but mixed breeds are awesome too (I personally have two). If it is your first dof try getting an older dog that will probably be less energetic, but easier to care for. Shelter dogs usually cost less too and you are basically saving a life by adopting one

you did not let us know if you work, or stay at home, live in a house, or a apartment, that is important. pups do need lots
attention. keep in mind you are "the parent" of a little one. do you
like big or little dogs. are you prepared for chewed up items you
may treasure, cause pups will chew up stuff, they must be fed
more often than grown dogs. are you patient & most of all are you
consistent, cause pups need to be told right from wrong like kids
i just got done raising one & its hard work, i loved every minute of
it, but it is work. only you would know what kind of dog is good for
you, i have now four, each one had been "homeless" they are
my everything believe me i have never regreted taking them in, but keep in mind you take on responsibility & sometimes people
do not consider all these above mentioned things when they get
a dog. you alone would know if you are able to handle "the good
& the ugly", each dog has a different "dogsenality" some are
better for a family with kids than others....that is also something
you might want to include in your thoughts also keep in mind the
pup will grow, some strange individuals then change their mind
& don't want them no longer cause the pup is no longer a pup
i have seen this too many times, people get rid of the dog just
because the dog is no longer "puppie cute" i hope you make the
right decision & you will be a responsible pet owner.

I think u should get a puppy that is going to grow into a big dog..like a german shepard or a golden retriever b/c they are very close to u and will protect u alot better than a small dog will....I have a german shepard and she is very loving and very protective ..someone raises there hand to me ..she'll be the first one to bite them..but its not really that hard to train them but the best thing u can give them is love..im on my 2nd puppy

If you have time to care for a puppy then you should definitely get one, if you want a playful puppy that was to play with you and is really friendly then maybe you should get a pug, they're really cute and really playful, they're also a small breed of dogs. Hope that this helped

I would recommend a pug, they are easy to potty train and very affectionate, they do cost a little more put it is so worth it, and they are very portable. Sometimes they do have nasal and eye problems but that usually depends on the parents background. I have a pug and I absolutely adore her. A breed I wouldn't recommend is a Chihuahua, they tend to become one person oriented and can be aggressive. Good luck on finding a puppy!!

You should try a medium sized dog. little dogs are easy to hurt if you pick them up wrong, and big dogs need a lot of space. get a puppy young enough to not be attatched to the previous owner, but old enough to not be teehing.

I have a black Lab. He is a wonderful dog. They are great for protection. They aren't to energetic, yet they can be when you are. They are very easy to train. And the Males will follow you around everywhere. I got my Lab from GrandriverLabradors.com They're around the Ohio/Penn area. Email me for training information. I'm trying to make a book and want to be a future dog trainer. CCandDuke@Yahoo.com
