Dogs - February 2007

My pup has been sick for about a week. At first I thought she'd gotten overheated since it's winter and we have to try extra hard to heat our house since the landlord wont fix out broken window, instead they put plastic over it but I digress. She continued to throw up every other day so today we called the vet because today is the only day we could've gotten her in. The vet was booked till Tuesday but said he'd call and answer any questions we had. Well he called and we told him she'd been throwing up, can't keep anything down, and she whines all the time from pain. He just says give her pepto bismol and gatorade and that's it. What could be wrong with my poor dog and should this uncaring guy really be a vet?

We have no idea what Mom's dog is mixed with. His mother was very small...maybe 11 pounds. She was his color but looked like a chihuahua ...kinda....lol.

He is 3 times her size now that he is full grown.
Any ideas about what breed might be in him?? I have no clue!!

When he's getting ready to poop he gets aggressive and barks. He doesn't appear to be constipated because he poops regularly. I also saw him scoot once. I just took him to the Vet and she said he's fine and said his butt might just be itchy. I guess he has to scoot a lot more in order for it to be considered a problem.

okay I have a dog that has some problems with people and I need to take him to the vets to get his shots but he wont get in the car to go and he will bite us if we try to pick him up.and he will probally bite the vet. please help!

i got a small dog for my birthday present the 1st day of this month..i have tired paper training and spanking with paper. to tieing him out to long walks but he still uses it where ever he feels like it in my house and im at my wits end here with him. he is now 4 months old..any ideas...please

well like any usual day, we let our dog come out to do their bussiness, in da front lawn, and den our dog somehow got on anothers nieghbor lawn, our dog bark and all, so den the house owner saw our dog and threw a a brick-ish like rock at our dog and it hit our dog, is dat dog abuse or is it self defense? all our dog did was bark at them and being on their lawn, even though our dog was just on their lawn, they should have swoosh them away, not hit them by throwing sumthing, the only reason they should throw or hit dogs will be because if our dog attack them right??

i have a 5 year old tricolor beagle.
the brown parts of her coat appear to be fading.
what used to be dark brown has now become a light tan.
the ends of her ears are especially whitish.
this is so weird!

I have 2 Great Danes that are about to be 1 year old next month. They both weight around 170-200 lbs. They are fed once a day, we use a half gallon pitcher to feed them with. They eat Purina Dog Chow. They look like they are starving! Our vet told us that they only need to eat once a day but I'm wondering if they aren't getting enough food at the feeding or maybe there is a better food to feed them. They really look like skin and bones, you can see their ribs and hip bones and everything! I don't want people thinking we mistreat our dogs, because they are really like our babies! Anyone with suggestions is welcome to answer this one! Thanks!!

I have a 3 yr old cattle dog who is fear aggresive and bites strangers. I already have a claim on my homeowners ins. I'm (very, very) afraid next time might mean I lose my ins, there could be a lawsuit and worst of all, she is taken to be destroyed. I've tried pro help, but it became too expensive. I found a couple who lives on a ranch willing to adopt and rehab her. I know it's the best thing for her. She would be happy living on a ranch doing things she was meant to do. But how do I do give her away? My son was very upset when we talked about it.

We have a 5 month maltipoo(maltese, poodle) and he always seems to find a piece of paper or Kleenex or something he shouldnt have. When you approach him to take it away, he darts off and makes you chase him. Eventually, my whole family is chasing him and trapping him, which he thinks is a game. Once we catch him, he clenches his teeth together and starts to growl. When i put my hand in his mouth to get it, he starts biting. Any ways to get him to drop what he has or to not have to chase him for 5 minutes??

My sister has a germ shephard that has been rehomed twice, it is quite insecure and eats her wall,house,shoes etc when she goes out. Would a crate or cage help his sense of security as well as his destuctive tendencies.

My dog was just fixed 11 days ago. He never showed aggression towards dogs before. I was told it takes 4-6 weeks for the testosterone level to balance. Could this be the reason? His humping has stopped but this freaked me out.

We have 3 who have no weight problems. We live on a 5acre property but also not too far from a busy street. Any suggestions? She doesn't like fetch and won't chase a ball. The only thing she will chase is a cat.

I have had him for 5 year got him at 6 weeks old.he doesnt bother anyone else but if I try to put him in his kennel or bath he goes nuts and bites me ,no one else just me.other than that he is a very very loving dog (cokcerspanial) Peoiple have said have him fixed or put him to sleep(NO) I have been bitten a total of ten times.
