You get what you pay for :( I hope you stear clear of free or almost free pets. They most likely will come from bad breeders or backyard breeders and will come with a whole slew of health problems. You only want to pay $50 but can you imagine the vet bills a poorly bred and poorly taken care of animals may cost you in vet bills each year?
Most Rescue centers may be able to work with you but it may cost more than $50.
Good Luck!

You should really check your local animal shelters. I have found shelters whose adoption fees are $70. And animal control around here only charges $50. And when you get one from a shelter you are saving them from being euthanized. Maybe you can raise a little more money to put towards your dog's adoption fee.

A "free" dog is never free.
There are expenses for food, toys, vet care. Emergencies do arise on occassion and can be quite costly as well.

Try your local pet shelter. If it is a mixed breed I doubt it will be expensive. Also, they usually neuter or spay them for free and give them their first shots. Good Luck. :)
