It is not abuse since the dog was in their yard (even though it was mean). Not to sound bad, but in most areas it is completely legal to shoot a dog that is in your yard, you just need to keep your dog leashed and out of other peoples yards.

That was mean, but your neighbor could be really afraid of dogs. Keep your dog away from there and if it happens again make a report, but since the dog was on his property, you might not get anywhere with making a report. Dogs are smart, your dog will probably stay away from there from now on anyway.

Technically, if your dog was in their yard, the fault is all yours. Leash laws are valid even in neighborhoods. They could argue (and probably win) with self defense, especially if its a regular sized dog. Keep your dog in your own yard.

thats a tough one...your neighbour should not of thrown a brick but then again they could claim the dog was on their property. id just check the dog for injuries and if it has any then consult someone over veterinary costs. if no injury occured...then just keep ur dog away from the neighbours

I would have beaten that crappy neighbor to a bloody pulp if he did that to my dog!
I would call that abuse becuase your dog did not attack them, he just barked, your punk nieghbor had no right to do that!

Keep your dog on a leash. Problem solved.
What your neighbor did was cruel certainly, but it never would've happened if you were being responsible with your dog and keeping it on a leash and in your own yard.

It wasn't right of your neighbor to throw things at your dog. But you only have yourself to blame for not keeping your dog at home.
Haven't you ever heard of the nifty new invention called a LEASH?

your dog should be supervised but short of that , he doesn't need to get hit with a rock ; did you talk to your neighbor about it??? Here is my phone number, I will try to refrain my dog from going into your yard, but if he does, please call me and I will immediately remove him .
