My pregnant dog is an outside dog and we are having a really bad ice storm and its absolutely freezing and I brought her in the house so just in case she had her pups tonight they would be okay. But she refused to stay so I had to let her out she has a big dog house and won't go in it either. So what should I do?

My dog is a carin terrier and when we have a fire in our fire place she layes against the frie place (she really layes against the fire place). and then she starts panting but still layes there, we pick her up and move her away but then she goes right back to the fire. it's weird, it's not cold in our house ever.

My golden retriever normally isnt an agressive dog
at all, in fact, she's quite friendly and sweet. However,
the other day she grabed a napkin from the table and
when i tried to take it away from her, she got very angry
and growled and even tried to bite my hand (she missed
though). I corrected her and got mad by yelling, "NO!"
and a jerk on the collar, but this made her growl even more.
What is her problem (or mine) and how can I fix it?

So I'm looking to buy a puppy...one that I can play with, won't make a mess, will be friendly with family, and won't be very expensive after I buy it. Any suggestions?

We recently got a dog, but we are not sure of the breed. Currently he is 4 months old and weighs 16 lbs. Is there any way to know how big he will get based on that information? We thought he was a shetland sheepdog, but he already surpasses the weight of full grown dogs.

I covered the yard in expensive decorative rock and sectioned off an area about 50 square feet for them to use, even put soft sand down, but I'm still cleaning their waste off the rocks every week and its a pain. Any suggestions besides stopping feeding them or installing corks?

I've been to these shelters looking for a dog but i don't know if i can trust them because they lable the dogs different and do they really care if they're sending a dangerous animal out with a family...? It just doesn't really seem like they care but i need some input before i go an hour away to get a dog. I don't trust breeders all too much because some say the dogs are full bred but they're really not and all i want is a mix pit bull.

Well, those of you who are supporters of the breed, I was hoping you could check out a Website and Forum I made. Many people feel all Pitbulls are horrible, disgusting animals, but I feel that you only fear what you don't know, and this is an unknown breed if I've ever seen one. Thousands of innocent Pitbulls are being putdown because of bad owners training thier Pitbulls to be bad. If a Pit was not trained to fight, it won't. I refuse to believe that any one of my three Pits would so much as raise a paw to cause harm unless they felt they were being threatened. My one pit even broke up a fight between two dogs once, and then walked away... I have pictures of two of my pits licking eachother...how vicous...

she shivers / trembles sometimes not sure what is wrong with her, she is 2 years old, doesn't drink a lot of water , keep her hydrated with broth and canned food, had a tonsil removed last year because it was swollen, she has had her share of illnesses, reocurring urinary infections, I mentioned earlier that she swallows in a pushing forward with her tongue against her teeth constantly, vet can't find anything associated with that, anybody know what the shaking is all about? she is a pitbull.

As a professional dog trainer and a member of the Canadian Kennel Club, a member of CAPPDT and several other organizations I am always concerned about the welfare of dogs...period...whether they are purebred or not is not my concern. Although I do raise purebred dogs according to CKC standards and show my dogs, I have been to many CKC breeders and have witnessed ill kept dogs, dogs in poor health, dogs that were drowned at birth because the owners did not have buyers, I have witnessed 8 year old female German Shepherds being shot at Appleridge Kennels in Ingersoll Ontario because they were too old to breed. In the show rings I have seen dogs being choked by the nylon slip choke colllars they wear and vomit when they leave the ring, so lets be clear about what we call a puppy mill. Do you know that the CKC allows its members to produce up to 600 puppies per year? The NCAC describes a puppy mill as any breeder of purebred or mixed dogs that does not care about the health of the dogs
