My pregnant dog is an outside dog and we are having a really bad ice storm and its absolutely freezing and I brought her in the house so just in case she had her pups tonight they would be okay. But she refused to stay so I had to let her out she has a big dog house and won't go in it either. So what should I do?

This might sound silly, but would it work to bring the doghouse inside for a while? I know you said that she won't go in it, but you never know. I sympathize because I have outside dogs too (oh, here comes the thumbs down) but your girl has got to be inside somewhere if she's going to whelp soon. Do you have a garage, basement, or even a shed that she could in instead? My outside dogs are welcome inside the house any time, but they don't like to stay for long, I think it is too warm for them and they get uncomfortable after a short visit and beg to go back out. So if you had a cool room maybe she'd be more comfortable.
There are heating discs and blankets that you can microwave and they stay warm for a few hours, but unfortunately that's not the kind of thing you can just run out and buy...too bad you can't build a bonfire out there...
I say just try again to bring her inside somewhere. As someone mentioned make sure there isn't a pup out there already. Tempt her to relax with some yummy food or treats, and sit with her till she calms down. If this is her first litter she may just be an anxious new mom. Good luck and hang in there, and be sure to have mama spayed after the pups are weaned, I'm sure you don't want to go through this again!

Monitor your dog closely. Dogs tend to like to be alone and by themselves when giving birth, or in any form of pain. You would be best for the sake of the dog to contact your vet and see if they will let you bring her in to the hospital to be monitored by the vet or a vet tech. Also if you have a laundrey room, or an enclosed tile bathroom you can place large blankets down on the ground making it comfortable for the dog, keep it dark or dim, and put her in there. Do not stand around her too much, she needs to feel like she has privacy.
No matter what, outside in the ice storm is not the place she needs to be especially if she is pregnant.

Being that your dog is an outdoor dog she knows how to beat the cold for the most part. a mother dog will use her body heat to keep her pups warm so there is really no need to worry but if you are worried you could take steps to make her dog house a little warmer like putting an old blanket in there for mom and the pups. then mom can make a bed for them.

You are going to need to bring her in and confine her somewhere. The pups would probably not survive in the weather you are having. Do you have somewhere that you can barricade her at so that she can not get back outside? Also, check outside very very thoroughly to make sure she has not already started to have them and there may be a pup out there. That may be why she was so adamant about being outside. But she defiantly needs to be in where it is warm. Do what ever you have to do to keep her in.

Good luck!

***Edited to ask***
How is everythig? Did you find a way to keep her in? Did she have the pups? Is she o.k.?

Dogs usually like having a special place where they feel really comfortable. Well usually i'd tell you to just leave him outside and just to keep an eye on him. But now I think you should try and convince her to come into some kind of shelter. you cant force her to do it but you have to be tough with her so she will willingly agree as she may be a little moody, pretty territorial and protective.Get a few blankets to make her feel comfortable wherever she is.
Good luck with your dog. And god bless. Hope all goes well!!

you will need to bring her in and put her in a pen(like an exercise pen) because if she is ready to have her pups she will have them somewhere where she will be safe and comfortable from all things and people. i breed golden retreivers and my female likes to be outside and she went into labor when she was outside so i brought her in and put her in an exercise pen to keep her confined. so get a pen and put her in it because if she has these pups outside they will die and i don't want to say this but it is true the cold will kill them. so what you need to do is confine her inside and then she will thank you because being outside is more dangerous for her and the pups. good luck.
