I recommend going to your local shelter...Here's why.
Let's say you want to buy a "good breed dog" thats about $300, total of all puppy vaccines $250, Spay/Neuter $200....now if you go shelter.$90-150 (depends on where you live). That includes a set of vaccines and spay/neuter. you can also check out rescues (contact you vet). if you are consistent about buying a dog then go here....http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm there are several questions you should ask your self..and this site help narrow those down..like allergies, learning rate, do you live in an appartment or house..and so on.
I need to add this. Consider this when you are looking. Dogs are like toddlers their entire lives. They depend on you and leave their paw prints on your heart. if you have any other questions you can email me at ashlihale@yahoo.com feel free.

You can play with any type of dog! They all love attention and most are very affectionate. All dogs make a mess, no matter how much you train him. How friendly the dog is with kids, family, other pets etc. depends on how well you socialize him as a puppy. Socialization is a very important part when training a puppy. All dogs are expensive after you buy it. All dogs need the basic things like vaccinations ($40 x 3), toys ($5 - $20 each), food (high quality = $20 per bag), shelter ($50 - $300), leash and collar ($10 each) etc. Then there are things like regular check ups ($45 - $70), emergency vet visits ($400 - $5000+), de-sexing ($70 - $240) and so many more basic items a dog needs. If you can't afford this, I highly recommend you to re-consider your decision to get a dog.
Go to http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm and fill out the questionnaire, that will match breeds to your lifestyle.

All puppies make messes. It's pretty much what they do for the first 6 months of their life. Most puppies are playful and friendly, so you don't need to worry about that. It also doesn't matter what type of dog you buy, they are all going to cost about the same with vet bills, food, bedding, dishes, leashes, toys...etc etc..Try going to your local shelter, they usually have all sorts of puppies and even adult dogs. You can play with them all to see if you like any,and they are usually cheaper than dogs bought from a pet store.

I have yet to find a dog that won't be "expensive" after you buy it. All dogs need regular vet checks, annual vaccinations and anything can happen in between visits. Not to mention the food, toys and supplies that you will be purchasing. And all puppies make messes....... good luck with your search! :)

That's a tough question, if you like a medium size dog go for the beautiful Golden Retriever.
More information on Goldies http://www.dog-obedience-training-review.com/golden-retriever-puppy-training.html
Hope you make a good choice and remember the breed is one one thing you need to consider when buying a dog.

PUG!!! they are very friendly with humans and u will not be spending much on them like other dogs.. need not spend on grooming just brushing their coat after shower will b enough and feeding is justa simple meal..they wont eat much.. the disadvantage in them is they r not ferocious..and sometimes feel lazy.. Labrador is better and u can expect anything from it as u wish but u have to spend much on their grooming and feeding and have to exercise them regularly.. very very friendly with humans. u can go to any of website like dogbreeds so that u can have better ideas.. thank u

A Yorkshire Terrier(Yorkies). They're small, don't shed, and usually family friendly. Otherwise, Jack Russell Terriers are also pretty good dogs, so are golden retrievers and labs.
Good luck with your search.

Im not sure exactly what kind of dog you should et but I can tell you now dont get a pug they have many health problems. I also wouldnt suggest a chihuahua since they can get hurt often and vet bills can be a killer.

BEAGLES ! :). Let me tell you, beagles are Great family dogs, they aren't that expensive either. Easy to manager, easy to train, GREAT with small children. I have had 5 beagles lifetime, not 1 has been bad. Male/Female doesn't matter, BUT, if you are really curious, 2 BEAGLES are better than 1, But if you don't want 2 , one is fine too.
Beagle's are medium sized dogs.
Good Luck :)
