My big breed Boxer pup is 7 mo old she barked and growled at a box that fell off the front porch and backed me to the couch.Then she felt all proud of herself.Also that is the first time I had heard her bark OR growl ...she whines to go potty (fully trained at 5 mos)
she is now the size of a 2 year old reg sized Boxer...Was she being protective??

She is feeling out her world. It is a natural reaction to get cautious around new things. Dogs have personalities just like humans, some dogs may never get to be that way. It depends on the breed and disposition.

sound she was to me, jsut let her know that if people are being nice to you its ok other wise i would say she is doind just well
