It would be better for you to give your Little Dog BIG BONES that it can't choke on ... and NEVER GIVE your dog COOKED BONES of any nature.

Cooking bones changes the properties of the bones and makes them splinter and become dangerous

As long as the bones are not small enough for them to swallow. And there are some types of bones you should never feed a dog: chicken leg bones are the worst, as they splinter easily and the sharp slinters are dangerous if swallowed. If you're dealing with a large dog you really shouldn't feed them rib bones either for the same reason, but a small dog wouldn't be able to splinter a rib bone. Pork bones, beef bones most of those are perfectly fine for a dog to chew on.

No dogs should have bones like porkchops or ribs - or chicken bones, for that matter. These bones splinter. They chew them up fast, swollow them partly whole and they can rip a hole in their stomachs or intestines. Also, the bones can break, get behind their gums and give them bad teeth which will come back to haunt them in later years.

Bad Idea to give any type of dog a bone . OK well they can have those types of bones in a pet store but I wouldn't give a dog a bone form a rib or any other kind of animal . it could choke them and that wouldn't be pretty. also bad idea to let a dog chew things its not suppose to. IE:like blankets .

Hope this is help full.

Never give a dog cooked Bones ... they splinter and the sharp edges can hurt them inside.

This is especially true of chicken Bones, but also true of ALL Bones.

I have a 25lb dog and give him uncooked Frozen Short Ribs of Beef, Marrow Bones, and Lamb Neck Bones, almost every day. I'm told Turkey necks (the small bones when uncooked crush, not splinter) are great too ... but I can't find a reliable source.

When they poop the bones and gristle and other beef parts it comes out like pulverized powder.

NO, NO, PLEASE!
I know that some people give their dogs bones all the time with no problems, but it is not worth taking a chance!
Trust me, I work in a vet specialty clinic that has ER after 6 pm, and I have seen several dogs come in--one with pieces of bone stuck in its esophagus, one with pieces of bone that perforated its stomach and intestines--it is absolutely not worth it. Stick with something safe, like a nylabone (although some feel that those are too hard on the teeth, so ask your vet) or rawhide (although again, some dogs swallow large pieces and can choke, so it depends on the dog) or a digestible bone such as Greenies, Nylabone Healthy Edibles, or Booda Velvet Bones.

pork and chicken bones are the worst..do NOT feed this to any dog big or small because they splinter and can cause massive damage. Beef bones are better..for your little dog you can get some of the small round cut bones from the butcher that I think are from the front legs. You can get a big bag quite cheap and freeze them if you ask at the meat counter.

No dogs should be given any kind of hard bones like pork chops or chicken bones to eat except for the raw hide bones. These bones are sharp and break like splinters and could be harmful for the intestines, stomach as well as the gums. Raw hide bones are the best for the stomach as well as the gums and teeth. They take away bad breath too.
