Blue & White - Pit
Black - Lab

I would get a Labrador. Not because I don't like Pits just because a Lab would better suit my family and I. They are great family pets, very affectionate, loyal and somewhat protective. You MUST get your Lab from a reputable breeder. Make sure they have screened the sire and dam of hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and have been cleared for PRA.
A German Shepherd would be a great pet for you if those are the characteristics you're interested in.
A Pit can be a great family pet, VERY loyal and protective and can be affectionate. They need a LOT of socialization and MUST be purchased from a reputable breeder. Make sure you go and see the sire and dam and play with them a bit to see what their temperament is like. You must also make sure the *REPUTABLE* breeder has screened their sire and dam of all hereditary diseases possible.

Well, I have three Pits and believe they are the best dogs in the world. They will lay with you, play, and lick you to death. I feel they can understand pain more than any other dog and will even seem upset for you themselves. My pits never become unfriendly, and get along well with my German Shepherd and eachother. They are beautiful dogs, with a great attitude towards life and a childlike perspective. They will love you unconditionally and even teach you a lot of things. Having a Pit truly is a lifechanging experience. I love all colors but have a beautiful brindle I am training in Agility. His eyes beautiful, I have ever seen such eyes on a dog. I have a website about Pitbulls you should check out with Pictures and Information. There is also a Forum for Pits where you can direct any questions or comments you have.

make sure you research each breed, the pros and cons. pits do require more training for the most part. they are great but highly intelligent dogs. labs also require training and are affectionate, and very active. both are a good choice and any well trained and well socialized dog that is properly cared for will be great. just keep in mind pits have enough trouble in this society, you won't need to do any additional protection training, it's a natural instinct for them to protect their people. color wise i prefer chocolate labs and blue or black and white pits. but i personally would own a pit long before a lab. although i prefer the shepherd over both of these dogs. but everyone has their own preference.

White Pit and a Yellow Lab

Brindle for a Pit and a Lab would have to be Chocolate. Both VERY GOOD dogs!!!! Make sure if you get a Pit it has a clean history (breeding history) sometimes they are bred with family and it tends to make them aggressive. Labs are more prone to NOT be aggressive but they are very protective if you train them right. Good luck on deciding.

I love black labs--I have always found chocolate labs to be annoying, and yellow labs to be dumber. Black labs are the most loyal and intelligent, it seems.

I love all pit bulls. Just be sure to check on your county and state's current laws regarding them, and to check on any talk of future legislation against them. There is a major anti-pit bull revolution going on right now.

Also, with either breed, be sure that you are willing and able to devote a TON of time to training them. These are both strong willed and "dangerous" dogs, and require a lot of work to be made good family dogs.

Good luck!

Blue and white Pit (marked kind of like a Boston Terrier) and Chocolate Lab.

But, I prefer my Malinois when it comes to a loyal, affectionate, and protective pet.

precise 3: Border Collies - i like the certainty that they are soo sensible, you could actual see them questioning issues via and that they are so furry and cuddly. German Shepherds - huge teddy bears, and likewise very speedy newbies. Pit Bulls - i like pit bulls actually simply by fact it form of feels like so few human beings do. they are honestly the main misunderstood breed and that they are so darn lovable. Least Fav 3: Chihuahuas - they are so small and yappy. i could particularly have a cat. Bulldogs - The drool, the heavy respiration, and the laziness. Plus I dont discover the wrinkles lovable, in any respect. Beagles - i haven't met a quiet beagle. Nuff reported.

I like pits of all colors and prefer black labs, but a nice healthy looking (ie-not obese) chocolate or yellow is nice too.
