she shivers / trembles sometimes not sure what is wrong with her, she is 2 years old, doesn't drink a lot of water , keep her hydrated with broth and canned food, had a tonsil removed last year because it was swollen, she has had her share of illnesses, reocurring urinary infections, I mentioned earlier that she swallows in a pushing forward with her tongue against her teeth constantly, vet can't find anything associated with that, anybody know what the shaking is all about? she is a pitbull.

No idea for sure but I have two different examples.

A friend's cat would every now and then get "the shivers" and was eventually taken to a vet and diagnosed with diabetes...yep animals can get diabetes.

My own cat, very old cat about 14 or 15 years old, started to have the shivers. Turned out they were mild strokes. Yep animals can have strokes.

Basically what I think I am saying, though I hate to see you spend money in case it's nothing, but I would take him to a vet to find out for sure.

My dog used to be like that, would shiver/tremble for no reason - no loud noises etc.. She is a shelter dog so I thought just nervous.. Anyway many more problems occured and after many tests she was eventually diagnosed with colon cancer.. She is now on six hourly meds until she dies (Pain killers etc) as the cancer had spread to late for chemo She no longer trembles and the vet put her previous trembling down to pain attacks.. Not saying your dog is sick but get her checked out anyway.. My dog is still only 1 1/2 yrs old its never to young for a pet to get sick.. They reckon we may have her for another few months while she still has a good quality of life

This might sound really silly to you, but my dog shivers when she has to go to the bathroom. Every other dog I've ever had always went to the door and scratched, barked, etc, but this dog shivers.
As soon as I take her out and she does her business, the shivering stops.
It also could be a nervous response....is anything making her upset?

Poor thing!

Well, some dogs don't like to be cold, and it could be your dog is one of them. You mentioned that she has been sick in the past and had her tonsils removed, so she could be sick. Or, she might have diabetes.

Take her to the vet, and if the vet isn't sure ask for recommendations.

Good luck!

Awww, poor thing. Either she's really scared by something (something that happened in her past maybe) or there is something medically wrong. You could always call around to a couple other vets and see what they think. Maybe take her in for a second opinion.

Was she always in your life since she was a puppy? There is a possibility that maybe a past owner abused her. My Husky was abused and for atleast 6months to a year after we got him he would curl up in a ball and sometimes even have accidents in the house if someone even raised their voice. Then maybe she is just cold too.

My moms miniature schnauzer does the same thing when around loud noises maybe drop the decibels a bit. Then again just could be nerves or excitement.

Nervousness probably. My dog did the exact same thing at that age.
