Only roughly. A rule of thumb (according to a vet I worked with once) is to double the weight at 4 months to get the approximate adult weight. There are shelties that weigh around thirty pounds -- not the breed standard, I suppose, but I've seen them; I think they may just turn up sometimes as "freaks."

There is really no way to tell. A common myth is the paws, but there are large dogs with small paws and small dog with large paws. Dogs continue to grow until they are about two years old, first in height, then in bulk. An easy way to tell is by looking at its parents, but since you don't have that luxury, have your local vet make a guess. They should be able to guess close, but keep in mind, that they are just guessing based on the look of the dog.

Check the paws if they are the size of a adult dog you will get an idea of size. Compare with an adult dog ie.. German shepard, doberman etc.

My dad says you can determine the size a dog will get by the size of its feet. Small feet, small dog. Big feet, big dog.

Look at his paws: Puppies at their full growth tend to grow into their paws, so a big-pawed puppy is going to be a pretty big dog.
Good luck!
