I thought that when the dog was castrated he would lose sexual intertest, but he is as randy as ever, but not making them pregant thank goodness, but i wanted to stop the hyper active over active behaviour when a girl is in season, i have 2 boys so they fight like hell when they are in season and i was under the impression from the vet that he would lose all interest, its the opposite to be honest please any advice would be great, obv i know i can turn to the vets, but hoping for advice on here. thanks again in advance

I work from 8:30am -7:30pm. Live in a small apartment.

Can I get a Chihuahua. Especially considering that I need a dog which does not make any or very little noise when left alone.

After a long walk our 7y old Jack Russell has developed a sore front leg which he is reluctant to put weight on. Gentle manipulation of the limb gives him no pain or concern but he seems of-colour and very quite. This is the first time he has had any problems and is normally very lively. However, we have had visitors over the last week who have played with him relentlesly throwing a ball up and down the stairs - could this be the problem

I'm 5mths pregnant and have a king charles spaniel for the last 6yrs but my partner says he thinks my dog may get jealous when the baby comes and he tries to talk me into getting rid of her but she's so important to me and i don't want to give her up! Wot do you think? Has anyone had children and kept their dog? Any problems with their dog getting jealous??

she is far too young right now, and I wouldn't consider it until her second season, but what I want to know is how would I find a male poodle to mate her with?

I'm in Melbourne Australia.

I am adopting a 2 year old shepard husky mix, who is an extremely sweet dog, she just loves having her belly rubbed! I currently have two 1 year-old cats. When tested at the shelter she showed no interest (negative or posative) in cats. Both cats were kittens when I adopted them, so they have had no expirence with any dogs, any advice on intoducing them to the newest member of the family or any advice in general about being a new dog owner?

I am adopting a dog from a shelter who is being treated for heartworms. He had the first treatment and then had a very bad recation to it, so they had to wait for him to get stronger before he could have the last treatment. He should be ready by next week, but in the meantime they said I could take him home. I have 2 cats and plan to intoduce the animals in short supervised meetings very gradually, but can the dog pass the heartworms to the cats? I know typically heartworms are transmitted through mesquitos, but I am not sure if they can be passed any other way.

My new neighbour is determined to blame my dog for messing outside her house on the street, she has no proof it is him and we have many dog walkers in the area so this has been an ongoing problem for may years. She is not willing to accept that it may be one of me many hundreds of other dogs in the area on route to the park, she just has it in for my poor old dog who is not the guilty party. If he did do it i woud clean up. What can be done to resolve this probem as she is making ife very unpleasant for me and my family.

Turn off the sound and watch the dogs. They are just scared of him. There is a syndrome called the "magic trainer" where an outsider can get a dog to do things the owner can't just because the person is unknown to them. His show are highly edited and they don't show you the bad stuff, like when he is unsuccessful.

My dog acts crazy! Pouncing on nothing. Barking and running back and forth obsessivley. He jumps out of our fence and has to be tied on a dog run so he won't get lost. We adopted him from the pound at 6 months. He was there cause he was too noisey and got kicked out of his apartment. My husband is considering returning him to the pound.

I have one 3 month old female thai dog (medium size mongrel). Just got a pitbull cross, mother was also a cross so I guess that makes him a quarter pitbull. I am worried about the danger side of a pitbull especially around children, is this made worse by it being a cross or better? Also will my other dog be overly jealous?
