My new puppy has worms, and the vet gave us meds for it yesterday. I was wondering if anybody knows how long it takes for the Drontol Plus to get rid of the worms? Thank You!!

Every month we take our pom to the vet for an allergy shot. Over the holiday weekend our Pom started crying out in pain when we would touch him. His stomach was very hard but bloated. He refused to eat and would hide in the closet. We thought he might have broken something. I took him to the vet Christmas Eve and the doctor gave him an allergy shot yet 48 hours later he was still yelping. Since then the crying in pain has started to decrease but he is still very hesitant to let us try to pick him up. Anyone else had this experience?

I have two small breed puppies, one is 10 months old and the other is 3 months old. I had been feeding them Hill's Science Diet (the puppy kind), but my dog trainer told me the its main ingredient is corn, which supposely is not that healthy for dogs. So I started to feed them Nutro's Natural Choice (also the puppy kind). But while I was transitioning them from one brand to the other I noticed that they really loved eating the mixed foods and they had become more "regular" in their elimination. They seem so happy that I was wondering if there is any harm in keep feeding them the two brands mixed together as their permanent food source. Has anybody has ever done this before? Is it ok? Thanks!

The person was right, even if they totally disagreed with you? I must admit I learned something today and I am glad for it. It was pointed out to me things have changed. Mostly I depend on years of experience but, forget that Many things and ways of doing things have improved. I find I need to do some research on up to date methods. Some I am sure will just rub me the wrong way but, maybe some will be helpful. Thanks

I am seriously considering adopting a dog but I am having reservations because I will have to leave him/her at home for 8-9 hours a day during the week and I live in an apartment in NYC. Are there any breeds that are best for this situation or any ideas? If its not good for the dog, I won't adopt.

I have a 10 month old lab/pitbull mix, the problem is when we leave to go to work, she destroys our wood furniture and our couch. She knows she shouldn't do that because she always gets in trouble for it, but she just won't stop. We had to get rid of our couch and coffee table because they were ruined. We got a new couch yesterday (no wood this time) and in not even 24 hours she tore a hole in the arm of it. She is only alone when we are at work, the rest of the time she goes with us in the car to places. When we do go out to eat or something, she gets mad if she doesn't come and knocks over the garbage cans and tears the carpet. Im getting a crate for her because she just can't be trusted anymore. It's not like she doesn't get punished for all of it or that she doesn't have a ton of toys to play with. I thought she would have grown out of this by now. She isn't a bad dog and I don't want to get rid of her, that is my very last choice...can someone (sincere) help me? Thanks!

4 weeks ago, she is just gorgeous, and has settled in here superb. She is very loving, beautiful nature, and has proved to be a great house dog. She is fantastic with the children, everything. She is only 18 months old, and was with the RSPCA. The only problem i have, she will NOT let me near her with a towel, when she has been out, and is wet and mucky. She hates it, gets nervous, and runs away from me. The RSPCA are not sure of her history. I want to know, could it be, she has been abused in some way, and is afraid for some reason, when i bring the towel to her? Also, how do i gain her trust with this, so she knows i just want to wipe her down?

I bought a boxer puppy for my soon to be husband back around easter time, its so cute and there bday is the same day, they let me take it when it was not even 2 months old the vet said it may have been to young, since the puppy has "cherry eye" from what the vet said that poses no harm, within the past 2 months her toungue has gone from hanging out a lilttle, cute to begin with, when she slept to hanging out at least an inch all the time the vet said its very common in boxers, i feel so bad for her plus I paid 600 for her from a breeder but I think all these problems may be becuase they sold her too young. Any thoughts or tips?

Our older neutered dog is trying to hump our new 3 months old puppy. I understand older dog is establishing dominance over the new dog...Is there anything I can do to keep him from humping her.
The puppy chases him first and kinda buggs the older dog, we try to stop her from doing this but we can't always catch her 100% of the time. Our older dog is obedient, does not bite and he knows when I say "NO" , it means "NO" , however when I give him a stern "NO" in this situation, he can't help himself and keeps trying to hump her. Now the puppy is a puppy, so she growls, runs away and bite or scratch him in the face. And puppy knows the older dog does not bite, so she isn't really afraid of him.
I have to separate them when I am out, cuz I am afraid that he will hump her and intern she will scratch him in the eye, hurt the older dog. Is there anything I can do to stop these behaviors?
By the way, we adopted this puppy just 3 weeks ago, if that matters. Thanks in advance!

allright...for those of you mwho go on here daily,im the one who posted the same question,I lost my password to BB_brittnay_britt so im going to ask again so i can keep up with my answers, but i will give better information, so here goes: I have a 11 week old puppy that i took from my neighbors because they where beating her and they wouldnt feed her or anything. the vet had to amputated her tail (the neaighbors put a rubber band on it and it had an infection) and its been 1 week and 4 days and her tail still bleeds. The dog is at my aunts house because i dont want to risk the neighbors to take her back, and well my aunt has a dog that keeps trying to fight with my dog and he nips at her tail. And the vet wont put a cone on her, she nips at her tail. Also I need a name for her, shes a ful blooded german rot weiler, shes really sweet and loves to play...Ive been hanging on hanna for a while now..but im not sure...should i name her hanna? If you say no..please giver some suggestions

I have a six month old mini dachshund puppy who was born blind. He has no blood vessels in his eyes, and because of that, he never watched another dog chew, or walk, so he can't do either. When he was born, his mother refused to take him out of the sac, then refused to feed him. We tube fed him for a while, then he got an eye infection. His eye swelled up insanely. He's horribly expensive to keep, but he's such an angel. What I want to know if there is anything we can do for him. We brought him to a specialist who said there is nothing that can be done, and if there is, it'll be expensive. We don't have that kind of money. He's a long hair, so he can't get grip with his feet. Is there any kind of gripping boot or something we can use for him? The poor thing is losing all experience in life. We keep him in a baby playpen so he can't get hurt;;not that he can walk, anyway, but I really wish there was something I could use for him to be able to walk! Any ideas/suggestions?

When I run with my dog, he always pulls and pulls. When we pass another dog, he runs away from me completely. He's 150 pounds, so there’s no way 120 pound me can control him by brute force. Any suggestions would be great!

He just had surgery tuesday morning and on wednesday i came home and he had a couple large dark red almost purple spots next to his incision. Anyone know if this is bad? I called the vet and she thought it was from him licking at it. So I put the ecollar on him and now he wont do anything but sit there and look at me like he is really mad. When I take him out to walk he only goes a few steps before he sits down and wants to lick at the incision. He acts like he is in pain almost and hasn't urinated for 24 hours now. Anything I should be worried about? Also I started to put neosporin on the red spots.

My sis (dog groomer) heard about a website where you can customize your "designer dog." Like, click for size (teacup, mini, etc.), coat color, etc. Add to cart, pay now, and your dog will be bred just for you!

My first reaction was that of course such a thing doesn't exist! But then I got to thinking that, with the huge popularity of these "designer dogs" and the scores of people who want "teacup" anything, it's possible. Does anyone know of such a breeder or company?

And no, I'm NOT interested in ordering a customized dog. I'm just wondering if the demand for designer dogs has grown to this level.
