Your doing fine. Make sure the stitches are still in tacked hold the skin together. It is sometimes difficult for them to drink with the e collar on so take it off for him to eat and drink.

This sounds like the blood weeping from the wound is collecting at one of the stitches. That's normal although it looks pretty creepy. The wound will ooze a little blood under the skin until it is fully healed, and gravity is just pushing it towards that stitch. Neosporin won't really help but it won't hurt, either. Do not be alarmed if the collected blood spills out all at once; it will look scary but if it happens, you will see that the blood is very dark and thick because it's really been outside the dog's body for a while, just trapped in the fold of his skin by a stitch. Ecollar is the way to go; as miserable as your dog thinks he is, he'll forget all about it when you remove the ecollar permanently in a few days, and it is much better than him pulling the stitches out! As far as the not urinating, you probably had to stop giving him water the day before the surgery and he definitely didn't drink anything the day of-- he was too doped up! He will start drinking water again probably today, maybe tomorrow; after that he will start peeing again.

Sounds like bruising which is pretty normal with surgery. Your dog will be in pain for a couple of days. Don't push him. It sounds like your vet has no problem giving advice over the phone. Just stay in touch with her and notify her of any changes. If the dog doesn't urinate in the next 24 hours or won't eat or drink in the next 24 hours, I would call her back and see if it's something more serious. It may make your dog mad, but leave the collar on him. The less he messes with the incision the better it will heal.

All dogs, after a neuter or spay surgery, just sit around and don't do anything. I bet that the red spots are from him licking his stiches, because that is the normal reaction of any dog. I'm sure that your pup will be okay. Though, if it does get worse, take him to the vet immediately, there is nothing worse then an infection after the doggy just had surgery. Just comfort him and make sure that he's as comfortable as can be. I went through the same thing with my dog. He was just lazy, slept all day (though, he was really young) and just sat there. He didn't do much when I walked him either, no peeing, nothing. I hope that your pup will be okay. Good Luck.

Make usre he gets time out of the collar to eat and drink. If he is not drinking mix some canned food and water onto his dry feed to get water into him.
All dogs have some swelling and sometimes brusing around the incision site. Just be sure the stiches are in place (if he has any) and it is not leaking or oozing anything fluid from the wound.
Try not to let him lick to much.
He will look mad about the collar they all do that. Don't let him make you feel guilty it is for his own benefit.
In a few days he should be back to normal.

The red spots are Hematoma(s), bleeding below the skin. Probably nothing to worry about unless the wound starts having a discharge. He is not mad, well maybe about the e collar, the surgery though; all he knows is he hurts! Give it another day if he hasn't improved or if the wound starts discharging then call the vet. He may need anti-biotics.

probably a hematoma (collection of blood under the skin like bruising) and nothing to worry about. however, not peeing in 24 hours is something to worry about and i'd call the vet. if he seems like he's in pain ask the vet for a prescription for tramadol. it is a human pain killer that is very safe and effective in dogs (also very cheap, $4 for 60 at wal-mart).
see this site for more info on dosing etc in dogs (scroll down to tramadol): http://www.vasg.org/s_thru_u.htm

Nothing to worry about. It's a reaction to the surgery. Happens to every dog. :) If it gets worse though, call your vet.
