Every month we take our pom to the vet for an allergy shot. Over the holiday weekend our Pom started crying out in pain when we would touch him. His stomach was very hard but bloated. He refused to eat and would hide in the closet. We thought he might have broken something. I took him to the vet Christmas Eve and the doctor gave him an allergy shot yet 48 hours later he was still yelping. Since then the crying in pain has started to decrease but he is still very hesitant to let us try to pick him up. Anyone else had this experience?

He actually didn't answer any questions just gave him a shot and sent us on our way.

My husband seems to think that maybe his skin was hurting from the allergy and that was the cause for crying.

I would talk to another vet. If it is bloated it could be something seriously wrong with his stomach like his intestines were twisted. What kind of allergy shot were you getting because the Depo-Medrol injection should usually last at least 6 weeks. We wouldn't give Depo injections any sooner than 6 weeks apart, so that might be something that is contributing to the problem. I would definitely talk to another vet. Good luck and I hope your pom gets better

My dog gets allergy shots too. He could be having a reaction to indregients in the allergy shot, or maybe they gave him the allergy shot pescribed for a different dog. Either way, he should go to the vet. If you suspect it's allergies try bennedryl, My vet told to give the dog that if he show signs of reaction. Good luck

Find another vet!

My dog has severe allergies, too, and his stomach has never turned hard and bloated from it. It sounds like your vet rushed you out of his office because you disturbed him on Christmas Eve.

Poor Pom, did the vet say why he's doing this crying?
Maybe you should try another vet.
