Dogs - December 2006

Could anyone help me find a helpful website to go onto, to look for a small dog that i might be able to have in my home, because i am allergic to alot of dogs and my asthma flares up really bad.
We have a Welsh Corgi right now, but having to get rid of her, cause she sheds so much that my asthma is really bad.

My dog gets bored easily when left alone. She will start chewing her hair, metal railings (I've found glittering powder in her pee before), chasing her tail or eating her own poo. Is there anything I can give to her to keep her occupied for 5-6 hours. She already has a lot of chew toys, but she seems to enjoy chewing something harder. I gave her raw hide bones to chew before but she almost ate the whole thing, which worried me. By the way, she is 5-month old and very tiny (3.6 pounds).

I'm already using a squirt bottle but it doesn't work, as soon as I leave he starts barking again! I'm using no bark as the comand. I want another dog and need to convince my dad, he hates his barking so if he'll stop then I can get another one.

I am so upset!! I took my new little baby chihuahua to the vet today because i could see that she probably had tapeworms. I bought this puppy on friday. Anyway, the vet did the whole worm check thing, and she also has hookworms. The vet said she probably got them from her mother. Well my question is shouldn't this have been prevented?? This lady that I bought her from is a breeder, who sells lots of puppies. Now, because of this I have a hefty vet bill for the treatment. I feel that it was her responibility to make sure my puppy was worm free. She said when I bought her that she had been wormed, but I wonder now if she was lying. Anyway........I just want someone's opinion about this. Thanks so much to those who answer

My 5 month old boxer is, as most are, a jumper. Usually only when she is excited, but I don't want to pop her or scold her knowing that it doesn't work well for boxers, and I don't want to give her negitive attention. what is the best way to teach her to stop jumping? Do I just ignore her when she jumps? or get to her level before she jumps? How can I stop her?

I have a 5 month old boxer who is mostly outside. She stays in our "mudroom" at night and when it's cold/rainy. What is the best way to keep her from peeing inside w/o negitive influences/attention. I have read that boxers do not respond to yelling, or hitting and can make it harder to train them, so I want to avoid this in any way.

I recently puppy sat for someones 3 dogs during thanksgiving week.One of the dogs came from a litter of puppys my dog had 3 months ago. During the week I made 3 trips 30 mile round trip to feed her other pets cat , bird ,rabbit.The last day i went I forgot there house key in there door, The day I forgot the key Her 15 yr old son came home, and thats how she found out about the key. When she got back from her trip she refused to pay me for the work I did saying it was very irresponsible of me to forget the key . I.During the week I had sadie again I felt something was wrong she was acting like an abused dog. So when she came to pick them up I refused to give her back and and refund 50 to her. This ended up in a fight in my living room , my roomate calls the police and they said I have to give her back.She now says sadie got salmonella from my house My house is kept very clean and have five dogs who have not gotten sick.She said sadie almost died be in andhas been in hospital a week.

I would love to see him there....so If I yelled at him and did his sorry face and noises, then we baptized him and prayed for Jesus to come save him......what do you think?? I know everyone there would love sammy! He is a golden Labrador retriever.

Why? how do I stop it? Even after he is taken outside to go potty, he would come back in and maybe 15 minutes later, he would spray a little on bed, or legs of chair, etc. How do I stop?!

So my dogs bread 24 and 27 days ago, I took them to the vet today and had an ultra sound done and the vet told me that there was only 4 puppies and one was dead, my question is.. is there a possiblity there are more puppies in there??? Does anyone know, has anyone had this happen before?? I just have a hard time believing there is only 3 because my dogs are young dogs and her last litter was a litter of 8. They were tied for 35 minutes both times. Please help!!!

Theres this dog near my house thats for sale that I REALLY want! Acting responsible and everything does not soften my mom up one bit! That won't help -- Believe me, I've tried it! Her only 'reason' (well, more like excuse) is "I hate dogs!" We had one before, but when I was around 3. I want on SO BADLY! Advice **BESIDES** acting 'responsible'?
