So my dogs bread 24 and 27 days ago, I took them to the vet today and had an ultra sound done and the vet told me that there was only 4 puppies and one was dead, my question is.. is there a possiblity there are more puppies in there??? Does anyone know, has anyone had this happen before?? I just have a hard time believing there is only 3 because my dogs are young dogs and her last litter was a litter of 8. They were tied for 35 minutes both times. Please help!!!

No I am concerned because the vet told me if there is only 3 she may have very large pups and there would be a chance of a c-section. I breed to have healthy pups along with keeping my dog healthy, my parents have been doing it for 16 years, so I know alot about the business I am not just out there to make money, I want to sell healthy dogs to the right people, and to you Susan it has only been a year since her last litter I don't know anyone that breeds there dogs only once in two years, so where you are getting your information from I have no idea. It will not kill a dog to breed once a year, I don't know why you Susan are so hostil are you having a bad day????

hello there i am a golden retriever breeder and i have had this happen to me with my last litter. i have been doing this for 18yrs and i have come across my dog only having 2-4 pups in a litter, but when this happens she ends up having very large puppies. it could be right that she is going to have 3-4 pups and they will probably be big puppies. don't be alarmed til she starts to have her pups. this litter that i have now are 5 weeks old and they are all different sizes so it can happen. who knows she just may surprise all of you and end up having more and they will all be very healthy. you know what don't worry about what other people say about you breeding because i always get critisized for the breeding i do and people tell me that i am not responsible enough to breed dogs but you know i don't sell my dogs to anyone that has money i screen all my buyers and i make sure that all my dogs go to good homes and i always keep in contact with then for the first year to make sure that everything is going good and to let them know that if they have any problems they can ask me anything. for those two people that spoke their peace let them run their mouths because the thing that will happen is that you will sell all your pups to very good homes and she will look dumb for saying all those bad things that they said to you about your breeding. i breed my dog every other heat cycle and she is in perfect health, so don't listen to other people because they just don't know what theyare talking about. you know what you keep doing what you are doing and good luck with your litter. i will be praying for you and your dog. i hope all goes well.

ultra sound is pretty accurate; why such a hard time believing that there aren't enough puppies? or are you concerned for her to deliver the 3 that are alive would be my concern , one is already dead; I would not be wishing, hoping for more and possibly more problems.; I don't know how old your dog is ; how long ago was the last litter , I hope at least over 2 years ; you are just beating up your dog and seems your concern isn't about the health of everyone just the number, am I wrong? Sometimes nature is telling you something , listen for the sake of the pups and your dogs.

You say you're a good breeder but you can't spell the word pregnant? Your dog should not have to have a litter a year, that's very hard on their bodies. Look it up, do a little research. Perhaps if you'd waited for your b*tch to heal she wouldn't be facing these complications. You don't say how old the b*tch is - just 'very young'. She should not have been bred until she was AT LEAST 2 years old (or 4 heat cycles) and then only once every 2 years. You're being irresponsible and your b*tch is paying the price. Hope you can live with that.

Not all litters are the same. I've seen pets have one litter of 4 and another litter of 10. It just depends on how many eggs were fertilized or released that day. It's a crap shoot. Good luck with your dog.
You should really get your dog fixed though, there are too many puppies put to sleep each year because there isn't enough homes. You are contributing to the problem.

Golden Labrador? you should mean Yellow Labrador. besides, i don't understand each of the a lot about Labs, yet i do learn about Goldens... a million) A 30-minute walk contained in the morning and at nighttime is definitely no longer adequate exercising for the dogs. Goldens are ball-loopy, so that you'll finally end up out contained in the exterior tossing a ball for him for hours and hours and hours till he/she flops down exhausted. 2) Goldens are oftentimes stunning with young ones, yet must be supervised at the same time as round them till you've found out what style of temperament the dogs has. Even the sweetest of breeds has lemons. can help around the living house? In what way? for further archives on Goldens, click the links i have lined in "resources".

Aww don't breed! That's just 11 more puppies that won't get taken care of and have to suffer! :'(

But litters vary so you're out of luck... But I don't know someone who wants 11 puppies plus 2 dogs...
