Also, wouldn't it have to be mixed with another breed to become smaller? A breeder in my city is selling them for a very good price but I'm concerned, does anyone have any info on these breeds?

I have a pure bred male german shepard, he is approximately 7 years old and he is in good health. However, just yesterday when I called him over to me, he started to run toward me and he yelped. Then he started walking, and I noticed that he was not putting any pressure on his back right leg. My mom said that she thinks he may have arthritis, could this be possible? He's had it before too, but only in cold weather. We just got snow here on friday, and it's been below freezing temperatures. Could it be the weather?

Cat or Dog?
Question Details: Is a cat or dog a better pet for our family? I am a stay at home mom and will be for at least another year after that I may go back to work. My daughter is 18 m/o and will be taught to be kind and respect the animal (just has she has been with my moms dogs and cats) and will never be left alone with the animal. We have a medium size back yard and lots of love to give. I realize that any animal is a huge commitment and I am taking it seriously. Which would be a better suit for my lifestyle. Any breeds be more compatiable? Personal experiences with toddlers and cats/dogs would be great. What about puppy/dog or kitten/cat? I am just worried about going back to work and leaving a dog home alone during the day I know most dogs are left alone. I would put the dog in our kitchen and puppygate it. Help!

I just recently had to get rid of my 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier because he attacked the neighbors bull dog.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with their Jack Russell being 10 feet tall and bulletproof?

He was terrified of the vacuum but would eat a lawn mower!!

i have an english bull terrier and that breed is known for it's skin sensitivity.
She seems to be allergic to grass. When she lies out in the sun on the grass, you can see that her tummy gets all red and rash like.
It's not major, it fades within a few hours, but it seems weird that a dog can be allergic to grass!!!!
anyone have a dog that has this problem?

I am so upset!! I took my new little baby chihuahua to the vet today because i could see that she probably had tapeworms. I bought this puppy on friday. Anyway, the vet did the whole worm check thing, and she also has hookworms. The vet said she probably got them from her mother. Well my question is shouldn't this have been prevented?? This lady that I bought her from is a breeder, who sells lots of puppies. Now, because of this I have a hefty vet bill for the treatment. I feel that it was her responibility to make sure my puppy was worm free. She said when I bought her that she had been wormed, but I wonder now if she was lying. Anyway........I just want someone's opinion about this. Thanks so much to those who answer.

I have an english bull terrier. She is very stubborn and won't easily obey commands. She has no interest in chasing a ball or fetching.
I want some backyard or home ideas of things to do with her that will burn off some energy and or give her something to do, so she is not bored.
(I walk her every day. can't let her off the lead in public as she isn't obedient)
We used to play rough with her, she would jump in the air and try and sort of play bite your arms etc, but we don't do that anymore, as she bit a few times
we used to play with a soccer ball with her and try and get it off her, but our trainer told us not to play games where SHE is in control, because we are teaching her that she is the boss. ie we can't let her win.
this makes it difficult. what do you think?

I have an 11 year old son and a 7 year old daughter, we live in a good sized apartment and are considering adding a dog to our family. We'd prefer a smaller one but I am unsure about what breed would be best to look for. Personally, I'd prefer to check out the local Humane Society, but would like to geta general idea before starting my search.

I have two male dogs. The smaller dog humps the bigger one every chance he gets, sometimes to the point of ejaculation at which time he yelps from what I think is an orgasm! Also when they go out to pee, the small dog licks the bigger dog's pee midstream as well as lick and nibble at his pecker. Why does he do these things? It is disgusting.
