shapei are very high maintinence dogs and have delicate skin, you have to clean their wrinkles, ank dont expose them to harsh weather. they get territorial and usually dont get as expressive in their affection to their owners. they need huge yards, so they can run around and have their territory, and arent really good with kids. they are prone to skin diseases and different sorts of skin problems.
Pugs on the other hand, are very versitile. they are low maintinence, and have loving personalities. they bond with their owners and become very devoted. they can either live in a small space, or a large yard, because they dont mind either way. they love to play with little children, my friend has a six month old son, and he loves their two pugs. however, pugs cant be exposed to hot weather, because of their short squashed faces. they cant pant or cool off as well as other dogs because of their faces, and if they are too hot for too long, they can hyperventilate.
hope this helps and i hope u get the dog that best suits u

Well I have seen several Pugs and only a few Sharpei's, and if you would like my honest opinion I prefer the Pug-they are a much friendlier, sweet (but hyper) dog. I hope that I do not offend anyone, but, I have never seen a cute, really friendly Sharpei. Some Sharpeis tend to have skin conditions as well. Good Luck.

Depends on a lot of things. Sharpei are very territorial, and like big yards. So if you have kids, make sure you get a very young sharpei, they don't adapt well to other dogs or people quickly. Pugs are good for small spaces, like apartments and such. They are roly poly funny puppies. Just keep space in mind. Don't put a big dog in a small apartment!

research both breeds, then compare them to see what works for you and your life. You want to make sure to get a dog that will fit in well with your family and living situation (like for example a Sharpei will need a nice size yard to run around and pay in more so than a Pug).

I will say I've never met a friendly sharpei, my sister has a pug and I have to say he's the best. He's good with my sister's kids, has never bitten anyone, and so cute when ya put him on his back and he snorts like a little piggie (some sinus problems no biggie).

I'd go with the pug for one main reason, they are less sensitive and less prone to allergies, skin conditions etc. Shar Pei's can be very high maintenance and are often prone to health problems moreso than Pugs. If your husband is very familiar with the breed and prepared to have to pay for possible, I say POSSIBLE medical problems common to Shar Pei's then that could be a good breed.

im not really an expert on either but even though i prefer sharpei's, i do know that they have very delicate skin that can tear easily. a friend of mine had a sharpei that was always cutting and ripping its skin and it had to get skin graphing done to fix it!! they're very cute though,, just know what your getting yourself into.
hope i can help:)

Pugs are the smartest and most well behaved dogs I have ever seen. (Girls tend to be more calm .) I guess its really your choice.
