When we mated our dog The males owner stated that he wanted a money or he wants to pick a puppy. There was no papers signed...only verbal. He has started a bit of trouble and now wants to pick a puppy.I don't want to give up my puppies. They are a new and rare breed. Could he bring me to court? I don't want to sell my puppies.

My husband recently bought me a Dobie and we both love him..the problem is I already have a dog...and now my husband wants me to get rid of him. I Love my dog and I couldn't bear to see him go. I just can't deal with "replacing" my German shepherd with a new dog. But considering my German shepherd has alot of physical problems I and thinking about letting him go. I just don't have the time to take care of a year round sick dog. I want a dog I can take jogging with me (gsd can't run hes got hip problems and hes not even a year old)..or something that can stand being outside longer than 10 minutes.
I know my gsd is going to cost me alot of money later on surgeries but that doesn't stop me from loving him.

Ever since I was a little girl i've always loved Dobermans and now I finally have one...But at what cost? No dog deserves to be left out or thrown out....But my house is too small for both of them and I don't have a yard. I Just want to know what you would do?

Earlier this week, dog came down with hives on her head, swelling of the skin on her neck (she almost looks like a turkey with the droopy skin) and constant licking on her front legs (armpit area). We took her to the emergeny vet and he gave her a shot of steroids and benadryl. It went away for a couple of days, and now its back. I've been giving her doses of benadryl (seems to help a little).

I'm in the process of moving (which i think is the only change surrounding her). Also, if I changed her food (about 5 weeks ago, could this be a problem too). Is it dust mites, or a food allergy. Where do I even start to begin looking to find out what her problem is? Has anyone ever experienced this?

I have a 11 week old chihuahua pup that weighs about 2 lbs. She had Giardia and Coccidia before I got her. When I found out I treated her with .25cc of Metronidazole and Albon for 5 days. A week later had her examined again. She came back positive for Giardia again. Now I am told to treat her again with .25cc of Metronidazole for two weeks. Does anyone know if this .25cc amount is right? When I read about it I hear different amounts. Obviously it didnt get rid of it the first time? Please help.

My 6 month old basset hound has recently starting making a strange cough-like noise. It sounds like she is trying to clear out her nasel passages by pushing air back through. My 8 year old cocker spaniel has allergies and she gets the wattery eyes, poofy nose, etc, but the basset hasn't and doesn't have these symptoms. She doesn't open her mouth like she's trying to cough something up. She doesn't do this very often, maybe once or twice a day for about 10 seconds. She doesn't seem physically distressed over it.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What did you do? Please don't say go to the vet, I already have an appointment scheduled, I was just hoping it was something we could fix at home.

I know this is going to sound gross and all, but when my dog rolls over does his manhood have to really come flying out and everything? is there a way I can get him to stop doing this gross behavior because it is very embarrising when he rolls over and pretty much throws it out there at my guests too.

This is the first female dog I've ever had. My 9 month old puppy has been in heat and spotting for almost 4 weeks now. She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort. In fact nothing has changed except I know exactly where she has been in the house and I have to wash all my floors when I get home from work. Should I take her to the vet or is this normal?

My sister and her husband have gotten into the habbit of feeding their six month old dog cat food. I know this is wrong...My brother in law is feeding the dog only 2 cups of food a day. I would say he weighs at least 30 pounds. He seems hungry and un-settled all the time...What should be done?

I'm worried because she barks so loud and flips her little body around so much when I leave, that I'm afraid she will hurt herself when I'm gone. Also, I think she sits by the door the entire time I'm gone. She has another little 3 lbs dog there to play with but he doesn't matter when I'm walking out the door. She actually attacks him when I leave thinking it will make me stay. I have no idea why she is sooooooo needy with me all the time. I give her sooo much love but it never seems to be enough. She wants me to hold her all day long. I thought about putting her in a cage but when she was young she wasn't like this so I never caged her. How can I start now? Also, she will bark and bother the neighbors too much....

Any help here????

Thanks

ive heard that if you bring it out to the mall or busy places, it wont bark at people or bite. Is this just an old wives tale or is it true?

He bites way too much. Are labs supposed to be honest,
or are they supposed to be biting, scratching, and non
kennel-going-into dogs?

i have read conflicting opinions on both these issues. some say to neuter a dog is cruel and unessecary. and ive read that vaccinating your dog once a year is pointless and vets are just trying to rip people off!? what you think?

the dog runs to her food tray and guards her food. Sometimes she puts her nose in food and just moves it around. She just started doing this maybe a year ago. She only does it if my daughter comes around. My daughter does not mess with her food so we don't know why she does this. She will stand guard at food as long as daughter is in room. Help. Thanks
