Its just genes; some dogs, cats and horses have blue eyes and most have brown. Some have one of each.
A lack of pigmentation causes albinoism and a pink eye, and no thats not a persons brain thats the blood vessels. (Behind the cornea is the retina, then the skull, then the brain.)
As far as the deafness gene goes; genetic deafness in dogs and cats is linked to coat colour, if your pet has a blue eye AND a white ear on the same side then that ear will be deaf. The two genes are linked.

Its all down to genetics. For example, some humans have two different coloured eyes, like actress Kate Bosworth.
It is a rare gene that has been inherited from both parents - thats why some breeds have this tendency more than others, like Siberian Huskies and Border Collies.
Some cats also have two different coloured eyes - this is a gene carried by some Siamese cats.

I don't know, but it's not just dogs - I know a man with different coloured eyes. The thing is because we seldom look that closely at other people's eyes I didn't notice until I'd known him for years and haven't had the courage to ask. I wonder if his wife knows the answer.

It just happens. I had a Sheltie with two different coloured eyes and I know of a girl with one blue eye and one brown. She has blond hair and the blue eye has a blond eyebrow and the brown eye a brownish colour eyebrow.

Same reason that David Bowie does; it is down to an irregulariy of the pigmentation. The darker eye is actually colourless and you are seing into the brain.

It's all about genetics. It is very common in Australian Sheep dogs and can be in Dalmatians too. It can also occur in cats and believe it or not humans, David Bowie and Kieffer Sutherland are examples.

It is a genetic flaw. Happens to people occasionally too. Nothing wrong with the dog.

if you are refering to dogs having a bright blue eye and the other one normal then usually that is a sign of deafness.i was reading a leaflet in the vets about it.

Pigment is thrown forward from the back of the eye, also it can be because of the parenting genes
