you can try to go to petfinder.com and see if you can match what your dog looks like to what the dogs and details show on there. Do you think that your dog is pure? If it is a mix, then it could be several dogs all in one. But over all, if you love your dog, and it is acting okay and no problems with behavior or anything, then it don't really matter what breed he is. All that matters is that he is yours!!!

There are some very good sites with extensive information about dog breeds like dogbreedinfo.com (I used that site more times then I can count when I was looking for a dog). That site also has an extensive amount of mixes.
Of course, there's always the strong probability that, being a stray, your dog isn't a pure breed. (which is part of the reason I sugest that site) Pure breeds usually cost way more then they should, making it unlikely that someone would pay that much and then it becoming a stray. But good job for doing something good for the community by taking in a stray. Thanks.

If she's a stray chances are she's a Heinz 57. But they really make the best pets. Check out a dog breed book at the library or a dog breed website.

I wouldn't make a special appointment just to determine breed, but next time you go in for shots or whatever you should ask. Also, does it really matter? We picked up a stray and she is almost 3 now, I still have no idea what she is. Doesn't matter as long as you love them and they love you, right?

Your vet will only be able to tell you what type of dog you have based on what it looks like. It will be a guess, nothing more. Only DNA work or registered papers can tell you for sure what type of dog you have.

You should take your dog to the vet for its own health and safety. Dogs need shots, vaccinations and regular check ups to keep them safe! I know it can be inconvienent but for your dogs sake a trip to the vet would be beneficial. You can find out then!
