She just seems to be very affectionate and/or submissive.

This is normal, but it's annoying and you and your guests shouldn't have to put up with it.
Fortunately, you can teach her not to lick without yelling or scaring her, and she'll learn more acceptable ways to say she loves you. My dog will come up to my mom and lick his own nose: he knows she doesn't want him to lick her face, so he pretends to lick.
Simply, every time she licks you, stand up, stop petting her, and look away. Just ignore her and turn your attention to something else, like washing the dog spit off your windows. You shouldn't have to push her away or anything; losing your attention will be enough of a message to her. If she gets really pushy, don't let her make you back down. Once she learns she can't blackmail you, she'll stop trying, but it might take a while. Hopefully she'll just follow you around the house until you decide to pet her again.
Don't make a big deal out of it; just take your face and hands away from her when she starts licking them, and she'll learn that licking is not polite in your pack.

Of course it normal. He is so happy to have a new home and owner to love. The licking is one of two things. He is probobly just very happy. But it could also be that he has a craving for sodium. This is normal in stray dogs who have'nt had any salt in their diet. Remember your skin gives of sodium. Like, have you ever cried and tasted a tear? It's really salty, right? Well the same sorta things goes for just about any part of your body. Ecspecially your hands.

Um, sure, maybe? Our dog likes to lick too, never let her do it for that long though...maybe she would? Could be worse, the dog could bite you for 5-10 minutes.
Sounds like a minor manners problem to me. Just do some + re-enforcing and she'll stop.

Make sure the dog always has lots of fresh water to drink, then add a pinch of salt to each meal.
People's skin has salt on them that the dogs will lick off.

It's not abnormal. My dog will give licks until he's made to stop. My parent's dog won't ever give licks. It depends on the dog.

Actually I think I heard somewhere that the constant licking can mean some kind of vitamin deficiency. You might phone your vet.

The dog's probably just extremely grateful :) I know you probably have already, but it should be a top priority that you have her checked by a vet and get all the vaccinations she needs, because she could have picked something up wandering the streets.

She's so grateful to be looked after, is my guess.
You never know what she's been through before she found you, her rescuers. She could have escaped from hell, I don't need to describe the sort of place that dogs end up in...
I think it means 'I love you, please make sure I never go there again!'

she is starving for love and attention. I am so glad you took her in. You need to get her to a vet to make sure she has not picked up anything living on the street. You want her to be good and healthy before you get to attached
