I have a 5 month old boxer who is mostly outside. She stays in our "mudroom" at night and when it's cold/rainy. What is the best way to keep her from peeing inside w/o negitive influences/attention. I have read that boxers do not respond to yelling, or hitting and can make it harder to train them, so I want to avoid this in any way.

You have to remember that your boxer is still a toddler and doesn't have strong bladder control. I have a few suggestions:

1) Set your alarm for every 3 hours to take her outside onto the grass for a pee.

2) Buy this thing called inside grass....its like a 1m x 1m patch of fake grass for animals to use inside, I think you just wash it off with a hose afterwards

3) Train your dog to sleep outside (if the yard is secure). My puppy (cavalier cross poodle) has been sleeping outside in his kennel (surrounded by his fav toys) since he was 3 months old and loves it. Remember, dogs were wild animals once and can hack being outside.
