I have tried to adopt but most organisations won't rehome a pup with young children...I have 3. I want a dalmation and saw some advertised in a paper but when i called the bredder to enquire about it, he wasn't even aware that dalmations have problems with their hearing...also, he has another advert in the paper for a different breed of dog. What should i do?

What are their tendancies? Are they going to tear my house apart? Are they good with other pets? Are they laid back or hyper? Do they bark alot? Any help or suggestions, I would really appreciate. Thanks.

We already spoke to a vet, but I really would like to feed him a more natural dog food without fillers and extra fat. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated. Also, if anyone has an recommendations for books to read about training and caring for your puppy that would be quite helpful as well. Thanks so much!!

Is it safe to use a really mild human shampoo on my dog? I just don't like the way most shampoos smell. The one I have is like Suave Daily Clarifying and it's clear with very little smell.

3 days ago whilst driving i saw 4 dehydrated Irish setter breed dogs. There was a mother a pup and two male dogs i called the RSPCA out and they came to take the dogs back to an animal shelter. The dogs are in great condition but were dehydrated,
What steps does the RSPCA take to find homes for these dogs?
If the owner didn't come forward would they put them down?
Did i do the right thing calling the RSPCA or should have i kept them on my own property and tracked down their owners?

I have a now 4 year old blk and white male chihuahua. He's considered obese because he weighs about13-15 lbs. His personality is very scared and shaky. If he wants to protect from something like another animal he'll run about 30ft. away and then bark at it. He ocassionally wrestles with his buddies which are a toy poodle, cavalier king charles spaniel, miature schnuazer, golden retriever, and a boxador(that's just what my dad calls it, he's a half boxer half labrador)

Anyway after i give my dog a bath and dry him off he goes crazy! not bad crazy though. he just starts running around the house jumping off of the walls basically and playing and having fun with every animal he comes in contact wtih. After about half an hour he's back to normal.

IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG WITH HIM?

almost 2 years ago my father in law passed away and we inherited his little aussie, bandit. this has been 1 very depressed little dog. no interest in anything. he lived alone with dad for almost 11 yrs. we're getting ready to buy a house with existing pens for chickens, ducks, geese. i know the aussies need to be kept busy busy, but is he too old (about 13) to handle a little flock of something if we were to get him some. i'm looking for anything to stir the life back into him. i know about "doggy prozac" and i've already discussed it with my vet. he's only 13 and his physical health is great. his mental health is my concern. we have to coax him to eat. he hasn't wiggled his "tail" since dad died. i don't think my husband can handle losing this dog right now. he promised his dad he'd take care of him.

Well, my Fox Terrier/Jack Russell cross was bitten on the ear this morning by one of our three larger dogs(completely out of character I don't know what happened) It was bleeding quite badly but my dad put some flour on the wound to absorb the blood and it stopped soon after. However, the wound still looks quite nasty, should I take him to the vet asap? Is it likely it will become infected? Our vet holds a pet clinic on saturday mornings would that be too long to wait? Any advice welcome

This is a recent problem. She is a 3yr old Golden Retriever. She doesn't do it all the time(never if someone is home), but the problem is becoming more frequent.

I just want to start off by saying Iv had Rott befor and I know that it comes naturally for them to protect. I got my Rotty (rosco) about a year ago with no intention of wanting him to be watch/guard dog. But the last couple of months strange people have been lurking around my house. He doesnt do anything when poeple knock on the door, not even bark. Which I expect consider the last 4 years of his life his wasnt treated very good. He just now getting over not peeing on people when there petting him. Anyways my Q. IS there anyway you can train a dog to bark or just scare people if need be? Or would that be asking to much of him? I dont wanna rush him or feel like im attacking or something? Anyways let me thanks.
