Is it safe to use a really mild human shampoo on my dog? I just don't like the way most shampoos smell. The one I have is like Suave Daily Clarifying and it's clear with very little smell.

No the Human shampoo is too harsh. Dogs do not have the oil glans we have.
Try Crazy Dog Puppy Shampoo or Dr.Bonner(for humans) Baby Shampoo. Neither leave a scent behind.
I use both on my dog because like you I hate overly scented "anything".

I agree with the baby shampoo instead of any clarifying shampoo. Its safe. human brand and stick with "name brand" you will be fine.I dont agree with ANY HARTZ PRODUCT... Hartz should be shut down!! their products are awful. I had a full grown cat die in my arms(at the animal hospital I worked at) because someone used hartz flea product on it, they even followed the directions exactly!! BE AWARE OF ANY HARTZ PRODUCT!!!!
Baby shampoo is not harsh on the skin and it works fine... you are getting the same thing its just got DOG on the label and mabey a little different scent...
trust me, save your $$ and get Johnson and Johnson....

Yes. Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo will also get rid of fleas (they can't stand it so they just jump off in the tub) and it is also mild for their skin.

It could dry out their skin and remove the natural oils. Heartz makes a puppy shampoo that doesnt smell that bad.

hartz makes a shampoo that smells like baby powder and wal mart sells it . it makes the dog smell so good . good luck and god bless and happy holidays.

it should be ok i'd first look on the back to see if it has any animal testing bc if it did it would say if its unsafe or not.
