If you are talking about the Canadian Kennel Club, then no, you can only register dogs from registered parents. That is how we keep track of the bloodlines.

If you're talking about the Continental Kennel Club, since they would register a cat if you claimed it was a pekingese they will almost certainly be willing to register your dog, but since their "papers" mean nothing why go to the bother and expense?

A dog is not considered a purebred without a certificate of purebred registration from the Canadian Kennel Club or the American Kennel Club. There are other clubs out there like the UKC who register dogs, etc. but they are not recognized by Agricultural Canada. You dog may very well be purebred but if the breeder does not give you registration papers then it is not considered a purebred until it is registered. If the breeder did a litter registration for the puppies in the litter then they will have a litter form for each pup and you can get one from the breeder so you can register your dog with that. If they did not register the litter then you can't. In your case the parents don't have papers so he couldn't have registered the litter, so you are out of luck. If the breeder is a member of the CKC then it is illegal for them to sell you a puppy without CKC registration papers. If they are not a member then they can either elect to register the litter at non-member rates or not register the litter and they can sell the pups without papers. Also, any breeder who sells a pup and who is a member of the CKC must either tattoo or microchip the pup before it leaves their kennel. Pet stores, in my opinion support puppy mills and most will not tell you the breeder or give you purebred registration certificate and therefore should not be selling the puppies as purebred. They tell you they are purebred, but they are not. Also a reputable breeder will give you at least a 4 generation pedigree showing you the background of the dog. How do you know the dog is purebred without proper background papers and that is why you can't register the dog with CKC.

No you will not be able to register a pup from un registered parents.
It is done to protect the pure line of the breed. Only bredding from registered dogs allows you to track the lineage of the dogs.

I do not think the CKC will allow it.

UKC (United Kennel Club) will allow Limited Privilege but the dog must be spayed or neutered. They can participate in Obedience, Agility, Weight Pull and dog sport programs, but cannot be used for breeding.

No you can not. The parents must have paperwork in order to do so. I have 2 pure bred dogs, both our dogs come from parents which were registered neither of mine have paperwork on them. Whats the point after all it doesn't make them a better dog and if you aren't planning on breeding or showing them for profit its a waste of time and money. With our dogs one of them would be worth well over 1200 (brittany spaniel with championship bloodline and extensive hunting qualities}with papers but doesn't make her any more valuable or less valuable to us not having them.

Why would you want to?

It better not be to breed and sell babies. Did you know that for every puppy sold by a breeder, a dog is killed at the pound because there aren't enough homes?

You have to get a blood test through a reputable vet that will determine the purity of the dog's breed. Using those results, you can register the dog. It is expensive, though, anywhere from $500-$800.

Papers are no longer needed from the parents.
