I have always seen Golden Retrievers with black noses she is the first I have seen with pink on her nose, I and curious if this do to poor breeding or maybe its a birthmark? I am thinking of keeping this puppy for breeding and I don't want her puppies to come out with pink noses, is this genetic?

I am new dog owner of a short haired black lab who I have had for a little over a year. I just returned home from Thanksgiving and i could finally smell how much my house, especially the first floor where my dog lives, smells of dog. He has shiny healthy short haired black coat and barely sheds, but I cannot seem to escape the dog smell that i really did not smell or realize before! I can only wonder what other people think when they come over to my house. Granted, it is not nearly as bad as other people's dogs i know, but I much more aware of it now. Please help.

People keep getting MUTT/MONGRELS & then flailing around desperately trying to attach some sort of "breed" to it. Which,of course,is impossible.

If they wanted a particular -REAL-breed,why didn't they get one?
If they DIDN'T,why do they seem to CARE???
Like a large portion of posts here,is this just to get some sort of "aw..CUTE!" reaction from total strangers??

i have a 14 year old lab mix dog. she's been with me the day i was born. she's always been an amazingly good dog, never bit anyone, was usually very well behaved, never had any accidents. she was an awesome dog to grow up with. now in her old age, she's gotten cancer in her eye and they had to remove it. ever since, she has been a complete ANNOYANCE. she breathes heavy, she barks at us, she runs around the house, she jumps on the table, she never seems to leave us alone anymore. we try to help her, let her out, get her attention, feed her, all that stuff. she's almost deaf and getting blind i think too. she'll go into empty rooms and bark at nothing.
she is making my familie's lives so stressed. we;re all fighting with each other because of her. i don't know if i have the heart to put her down. should i? and if i should.. when? before christmas? after? ADVICE PLEASE?

... has been brought up in a home where he was allowed to do his business in a room? He's a one and a half year old Papillon, pretty smart, but after numerous attempts at housbreaking he's not getting it. I've praised the rare times he waited until he was outside, tried crating, made sure times were consistent when taking him out, I'm just at wits end. Please help me save on floor care products!!!!!!! =)

I have a two yr old Golden Retriver, he's usually very sweet. I used play with him outside, by running in circles around my pool in the backyard. I make sure he ran beside me so he dosen't think I'm running away from him. I've stopped doing this because when we were running he would jump up and bite my jacket, like the police dogs do when they try to catch the criminal. He didn't do it really rough, but it was annoying. Does anyone else's dog do this? If so, do you know why?

I just want your opinions based on looks... not temperment (sp?) or anything else.

The cutest dogs in my opinion are Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Neopolitan Mastiffs, and Great Danes

The ugliest dogs in my opinion (sorry if you own one, nothing personal) are:Bichon Frise, Maltese, Yorkie, Poodle, Shih Tzu.

My sister thinks her dog of 12 yrs need to get a chest xray taken for his lungs and heart. I am just wondering how much does xray of 3 views usually cost for a 35 lb (medium sized) dog? I live in Philly and the vet that I go to quoted me $150 for xray (not sure how many views). I called this nonprofit pet clinic in NYC (where my sister lives) and thier xray cost $120. Now, I would think Philly would be cheaper, but NO!! (this is w/out sedating the dog) Thanks for your help!!

I have had my beagle almost 2 years now, and we also have a rat terrier male. They get along great! But a couple days ago we got a new lab and my beagle is so jealous of her. This may sound silly, but my beagle acts like she is mad at me. She won't come to me and she won't even look at me. She's been the baby for so long and I still love her, how do I get her to stop acting this way or will it just eventually happen over time?

Hi I have a chihuaha that hates having her toenails trimmed and bites me when I try to trim them. I have tried to be patient and loving and I've also tried punishing her when she bites me, but neither one has been successful. She still gets really upset and screams bloody murder when I know that I am not hurting her. There has to be an easier way for both of us to get this done.

if she stayed at home there would be someone to come and feed and walk her everyday, but other than that she would be alone

My dog (shitzhu/american eskimo) just had five puppies four days ago. We've been to the vet and he had to give her calcium, he said she was on the verge of milk fever. But her top four teats are inverted or barely sticking out, and the puppies cant get their mouths on them. They are full, and i keep milking them because they are huge and i dont want her to get an infection. The bottom four which the puppies all fight over are just about empty. Does anyone have any suggestions? I bought supplement formula and bottles but i cant get any of them to nurse off of the bottle and i want to make sure they are getting enough and that she is ok.

we adopted this new addition to our family from the pound. everythings going well up to this point. we were playing in the yard and i stubled upon a knife that didnt belong to us so i was panicing and trying to put it away and stuff. at the mean time our dog was eating a bone and my son started kicking him or at least started swinging his legs towards his face. our dog bit his leg and the night before that our dog bit him in the face but just a warning. this time, my sons leg has a decent cut which is still bleeding. my question is its pretty obvious it was an accident. what do we do now to prevent that from happening?

I have a 1 year old lab who spends about 7 hours a day in her kennel while I work, the PROBLEM IS I WORK AT HOME, AND SHE KNOWS I'M HERE so she whines all day for me. She has been feed early am and has been outside to potty prior to being kenneled up for the day at 9:00am. I let her out at my lunch break to play for a few minutes and to potty but then it's back in her kennel till 5:00pm. This is no different situation than if I went out to work at an office in the morning. I wish I could just let her out while I work but she is a very energetic 1 year old and I cannot have the distrations she brings while I am on a deadline. I'm ready to head back to commuting to the office every day just to get away from the noise. What can I do to get her to stop her constant whining???
