I have had my beagle almost 2 years now, and we also have a rat terrier male. They get along great! But a couple days ago we got a new lab and my beagle is so jealous of her. This may sound silly, but my beagle acts like she is mad at me. She won't come to me and she won't even look at me. She's been the baby for so long and I still love her, how do I get her to stop acting this way or will it just eventually happen over time?

You should get a book on Beagles and Labs so that you can learn more about the breed, what their personalities are like etc. Beagles, from what I have read, are very territorial and can suffer from "little man" syndrome. Your Beagle is probably trying to establish a pack order because the Lab is larger then her. Also You need to make very sure the she is getting just as much attention as the new dogs. Your Beagle probably is very pissed at you, she was your one and only for 2 years and now you've brought all these other animals into the house and so now she feels she has to be territorial. Give her rewards for all the good things she does with the other two dogs as soon as you see her do it so she can establish a reward with being nice to other animals. She may get over this, but unfortunatly some dogs just never get along with other ones.

"BooBoo" really has a good answer. This is normal behavior from the beagle. With time and equal attention, both will eventually get along and even play together. I've rescued and adopted about 200 dogs over the past five years and I have 10 dogs (all rescues) of my own. Every time a new one is introduced, there is invariably one of the "older" guys who is jealous and shows it. They seem to say "you can play, but you can't stay." It will all come together eventually. Love them equally and let the beagle know she still has a special place in your heart. Good luck.

There's your answer - your lab is a female - your beagle is a female. Most females don't get along with other females as they do with males. Is your beagle spayed? If so, just give it time and make sure you always greet, feed, and pet her first. The lab has never been an only dog so she won't miss not being first.

Don't worry they'll be best buddies one day. It took my dogs a year to finally like each other. Hopefully it doesn't take yours that long. Just try and treat them equal. Do not show favortism over the new dog because he'sso new and cute.

Oh, I'd say ur dog is having issues... the cuddle time needs to be shown, get down on the floor and play with them both, treats are good... the time thing may be all that is needed to bring the babes together... before u know it they'll be best buds..... good luck with that :)

Does the puppy have it is photographs? in the journey that your dogs behaves nicely, then it is going to likely be plenty extra handy to introduce. Take the older dogs for a valuable long walk to empty potential.
