My brother got a pitbull about a couple months ago. He keeps biting me and my family all the time and won't quit. How do you make a dog quit biting?

It depends on why the dog is biting. Does he bite when you play? He could just not realize this isn't acceptable play behavior. Does he bite when there's food around? Many dog's develop food-aggressive behaviors, which a professional trainer can help you overcome. Do you hit him for any reason? Dog's do not understand 'spanking', if you strike a dog, he will see no reason why he shouldn't be allowed to bite you. You have to isolate the situations he bites in before you can start to correct the behavior.

I would suggest obedience classes to teach you some basic commands that can help avoid bites. For instance, if your dog takes your socks, and you try to grab them, and he bites you... the situation could have been avoided if he knew 'drop it'. And so on. Try some training, and maybe ask the trainer for specific advice on dealing with his biting habits.

My sister has a chow and he bites everybody and she and I have had several arguments over this dog and he has bitten me and left a scar as well I dont dislike the dog other than he just does not like me very much either he does not like anybody really . He has bitten several people including the electric man when he read the meter i have asked her to maybe rid herself of this dog before she gets sued she does not think she will get sued since she has a notice on her property that says bad dog. so i guess i would have to say some training or euthanize it .good luck and god bless and happy holidays.

In order to train a dog to stop biting, you need to react in a way that makes the dog uncomfortable. I'm not suggesting you beat the dog, but for example......grabbing the dogs lower jaw (hard enough to be uncomfortable) every time they bite will eventually stop the biting. Another option is to stick your hand in their mouth (to the point of discomfort)

This has helped me in the past with biters. Hope it helps.

I guess it would depend if it is just play biting or aggressive biting. If its just play biting than try muzzling it and saying NO BITE in a firm voice. If this is aggressive behaviour than the dog should be euthanized before it actually does hurt somebody like a neighbours child. Hope this helps.

They have that no chew stuff for like ferrets and stuff that I bet would probably work for dogs to. Or another solution is to get cayenne pepper and when he bites you dump some down his throat. It sounds mean but it really works. My friend did that with her golden retriever puppy when it chewed up something and he never did it again. Just have the pepper in hand when you think he is gonna bit you.

I would try to have a thing that goes over top of his snout and then he will for sure stop biting because when that thing is around it;s snout it can't bite or bark but it can open it's mouth

Don't beat your dog like some people are saying. He won't learn that way, if anything it will make him more aggressive. Contact a dog behaviorist for advice and lessons. Good luck

When he bites tell him no firmly and then put him on his back.

bite him back. kick the ever living crap out of him. i don't know. my dog listens pretty well. i think that was a result of yelling at her and smacking her with a newspaper whenever she did something inappropriate. but, then again, i have a beagle. you have a pitbull.
