My dog (shitzhu/american eskimo) just had five puppies four days ago. We've been to the vet and he had to give her calcium, he said she was on the verge of milk fever. But her top four teats are inverted or barely sticking out, and the puppies cant get their mouths on them. They are full, and i keep milking them because they are huge and i dont want her to get an infection. The bottom four which the puppies all fight over are just about empty. Does anyone have any suggestions? I bought supplement formula and bottles but i cant get any of them to nurse off of the bottle and i want to make sure they are getting enough and that she is ok.

Just turn them out and put the pups on them right away.

i would feed her puppy food anyway just incase a miracle happens and they can get milk from her.... you will probly have to get a bottle and feed them like you would a baby.... they make replacement milk in powder form and liquid already, ready to go and you just have to bottle feed them....

Suck on them until they pop out.
