She is 51 lbs and extremely underweight it looks, but she is still beautiful and I want to provide her with a loving home. She is going to be staying indoors for now (Heartworm Treatment) so I was hoping that this would be an exellent time to crate train her. Any advice would be great.

I have a Yellow Lab female dog, She is four years old.
She has missed her heat cyles... alot.
She has only had 2 her whole life. One was when she was (oct. 1st) and she has her second one when she was three(September 1st) and she hasnt had any since. that we know of anyways...
She dint have one this fall, but she is getting fat, we brought her to the vet(cause of something else,(NOT THE PREGANT THING) and they said she could be having a false pregnies.
this was back in beggin of noveber. she has gotten a littler bigger. She hasnt got with a male so we know 98% she hasnt got mated.

The other question what else do you know about heat cyles?

I have a brittany mix, I nor my family is ever home during the day hardly to take her out to go to the bathroom for like 8-10 hours. I get mad because I don't thingk it is healthy for her bladder and it is not fair for her to hold it in. We don't have a doggy door, I just feel bad because I only take her out in the morning and about twice at night before bed. Is this healthy. I don't want her to have bladder problems or anything. Thank you.

It is so painful. I never knew i could love a dog so much. She had a tumor in her hind leg, we took her in to see what it was when we received the bad news. They said they could amputate her leg but the cancer would still keep spreading. We decided to put her down to end her suffering. I could see it in her eyes that she was ready to go. When they gave her the shot she was so peaceful. Its just so hard to go home and not see her there anymore. Please pray for our family. She loved my dad so much and my dad loved her.

My dog is always waking my family up in the middle of the night, sometimes 2 or 3 times, sometimes to go the bathroom and sometimes just to play, and we do let him out before we go to bed. My mom always gets up to let him out so he doesn't go on the floor and now its become a bad habit that he has. How can we get him to stop doing this?

OK, so my dog went mild on one side. Lets say that I submit the radiographs to OVC and they pass them. Or lets say that I resubmit them to OFA and they go "fair". Should that dog REALLY be bred???? Isn't the hip status questionable enough that the dog in question should NOT be used??? Should a "fair" dog be used at all???? Is there too much "playing around" to get the result that is favorable?? And is that really good for a breed???

For those who have dogs do you let your dogs sleep on the bed? I had a zoology teacher tell me once that not to sleep with your dogs. Do you know why that is?

Well i have 2 puppies and an older dog. The older dog gets along with them but i think he thinks they're female. He sniffs their private area or butt area and follows them everywhere

I've read that you shouldnt get a chihuahua if you have a child under the age of 7. I'm considering getting a chihuahua, but what happens when [years down the road, i'm definitely not planning on it anytime soon] i have a baby?

I have a 1 yr old Lab/Golden Retriever mix that has been a picky eater ever since I got her at 13 weeks. The vet checked her out, and could find nothing wrong, and suggested I kept feeding her the same brand of food until she ate it, but she went 4 days without eating at one point. This seems strange to me for a Lab. When I put her food down she usually sniffs at it then wanders off. I can't leave it down as I have another dog, soon to be 2, who will both eat hers as well as their own, and it is getting tiresome having to watch over them for 20-30 mins each mealtime until I have persuaded her to eat or given up. I am concerned as I have a petsitter coming in to watch them over Christmas, and want to be sure she will eat while I am away, I don't need to worry about them any more than I already will. I have tried Pro Plan, Diamond, Eukanuba, Nutro Natural Choice and MAX, Canidae, Merrick, Lassie, Science Diet and Purina ONE. If I add 'proper' meat she picks it out.

I live in upstate New York and I want to get a Chihuahua but I don’t want to buy from a pet store and I haven’t found any in shelters or on puppyfind.com, and I can’t find any breeders in my area. I have found many websites that will ship a puppy but I am concerned that it may not be a good idea because I won’t really know what I am getting. Has anyone ever bought a Chihuahua online, and from where? Should I buy a puppy online?

.Ok this is serious so please only serious answers. I really dont know what to do. I have recently visited a dogs home and found 2 dogs that I could offer a home, a lurcher and a jack russell both lovely dogs that we felt a immediate bond with but we can only offer a home to 1 of them. We spoke to the staff who informed us that the lurcher had not been assessed yet but her records noted that she may suffer from eplipsey although she showed no signs in the kennels. They are doing tests Tuesday 5th December before we know for definite. But the jack russel is assessed and ready to be homed now.Its a busy rehoming centre so she could be rehomed at any time if someone else also likes her. So do I contact them and rehome the jack russel or wait to see if the lurcher is epeleptic. If she is unfortunately we cant rehome her incase she fits while we are at work. I am emotionally stuck .Help me do the right thing. What makes it hard is that I feel the lurcher picked us if that makes any sense.

I have a couple of golden retrievers. The male is 4 years old and the female is not yet one year old (like 8 months). I want them to make puppies, but I don't know when would be an appropiate time for tasha (the female) to become pregnant. Of course, considering that the puppies should be healthy and that she would not be in danger.
Thank you for your comments.
