A properly socialized dog of any size should be able to adjust to a baby in the house.
Do not leave the dog unsupervised AT ALL around the infant. When the child grows, do not allow ear pulling, biting, or other harassing behaviors toward the dog. And certainly not from the dog to the child! This may mean your Chi will be on the floor while the child is in your arms, or vice versa, until the child learns hands off the poochie.
Get a Chihuahua from a reputable breeder who can assure you of a calm temperament in the bloodline. Keep in touch with them, so that when you do have a baby, they could help you with adjustment issues. A really good breeder will be willing to do follow-up like that.

I don't know why so many people think that dogs and babies can't coexist. It's like they think that as soon as a baby arrives, the dog will turn into a snarling monster that wants to eat the baby.
Shelters are full of dogs who were dumped once the owner got pregnant, or soon after the baby was born because "we don't have time for Fido anymore" or "the baby is our priority now" or "we don't want Fido to slobber all over the baby." I would hunt all of those people down and kill them, if I could. I cannot STAND it when people have a dog they are very into, but once a baby comes along they could care less about the dog.
My point is, dogs and babies are fine together. You just have to do your research, prepare the dog for the baby, etc.

I've never heard that. Chihuahuas are just like any other dog. If someone says you shouldn't have one, then they might as well say you shouldn't have any dogs at all, that's just silly. Having children and dogs is fine, most dogs will even love the baby! I recommend getting the puppy, raising him correctly, etc. If you do get pregnant, introduce the dog to baby sounds long before the baby comes. Rub baby lotion on your hands and then play with/pet the dog. This will put positive images in his mind, and he should be fine with the baby. However, I am not an expert!

I know people who have had them with babies. You need to be careful because a baby can hurt a chihuahua. In turn the dog may bite the baby. Care needs to be taken with any breed of dog and small children

You do nothing. Chihuahuas are the best dog to have for people with babies or with allergies. As long as there are no behavior problems with the dog such as nipping or things like that, both the dog and baby should get along just fine.

That is ridiculous, pets are wonderful things for babies and children to experience. The dog may be a little jealous when the baby arrives, but if you keep them in close contact and make rules -before- the baby, the dog wont have a hard time.

dogs will adjust to children. They may be jealous at first but will accept them into your pack. Make sure from the very start you train the dog and the child what is proper behavior. It is good to have the dog first that way you wont be dealing with a baby and a pup. I had two dogs when my first child was born. They would get very upset when the baby cried. Funny, but one bit my ex-husband when he tried to pick the baby up. I guess he thought he was hurting him.

Chihuahuas and young kids can get along. I raised my kids with Chihuahuas. You just have to watch the kids and chi and teach the kids as early as you can how to handle the chi.

MY GOODNESS what percentage situations DO I absolutely ought to assert THIS, there is not any such element as a TEACUP CHIHUAHUA!!! besides, your vet is loopy, your vet is purely attempting to get extra funds out of you. I say change vets, because a authentic vet might want to understand that each body dogs infant the teeth fall out on there own. Your vet is slightly of crap is what i imagine

well, you should probably keep the chihuahua away from the baby because chi's are very loud, nervous little dogs.
